An Activity Proposal describes:

• charter, requirements document, duration, etc.
• intellectual property information
• what groups will be created: WG, IG, CG

Working Group - WG

• Produces technical reports, software, test suites, etc.
• Participants: W3C Members employees ; Invited experts
• For example: Web Ontology WG

Interest Group - IG

• Facilitates the exchange of ideas on specific Web technologies
• Participants: W3C Members employees ; Invited experts
• For example: QA IG

Coordination Group - CG

• Manages dependencies and eases communication between groups and external organizations
• Participants: WG chairs of each group being coordinated
• For example: Web Services CG
