BOF on Structured Data in HTML, San Francisco, June 8, 2011, at 12:30

Update: See notes from the BOF: http://www.w3.org/2011/06/semtech-bof-notes

Organized at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square hotel, 333 O'Farrell Street, at the SemTech 2011 Conference

We would like to invite all interested parties to take part at a BOF, organized during the SemTech 2011 conference, on Structured Data in HTML. The questions arising have been around us for a long time, but the recent announcement of schema.org made the discussion more timely.

Here are the questions that we propose to discuss (but any participant is welcome to raise additional questions):

  • We see lots of interest in vocabulary development: companies like Facebook, the New York Times, ITPC, Best Buy, Schema.org, Dublin Core, and others. How do we combine and connect community-based and company-based vocabulary management?
  • We currently have two major formats for generic structured data on the Web: RDFa and Microdata, and we also have microformats for more specific cases. In simple cases, they use very similar mark-up for the same facts. What can a convergence story in for these simple case look like?

The BOF takes place on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 12:30, in room Franciscan A. If you are not registered for the conference already, you should register for the conference exhibition; that costs 0$.

There is a projector in the room if needed.

Food is not served, bring your own!

See you there!
