Description

The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) will hold a full day Web Accessibility Best Practices Training on 5 July 2005 in Lisbon, Portugal, as part of the WAI-TIES Project (WAI - Training, Implementation, Education, Support). This training is hosted by Programa Acesso da UMIC (ACESSO - Program of the Knowledge Society Agency in the Ministry of Science, Technology & High Education).

The Web accessibility training will be in English and will cover the following topics:

Participation

There is no registration fee for the training; however, pre-registration is required. The training will be specifically focused for:

While participation is open to anyone interested in Web development, the event is specifically designed for experienced Web developers with basic knowledge of Web accessibility and little or no experience in Web accessibility evaluation. We especially encourage participation from representatives of governmental or non-profit organizations and from different regions and languages in Europe.

Pre-Registration

All spaces are filled and registration has closed on Friday 17 June, 2005 at 16:00 Portugal local time. Please note that only registered participants who have received a confirmation of their attendance will be admitted to the training.

Future WAI Web accessibility training sessions will be announced on the WAI home page and the WAI Interest Group mailing list.

Program will start promptly at 9:30. We will maintain the schedule below as feasible; however, some times might shift up to 15 minutes to accommodate participant questions and other adjustments.

Transportation

Taxi (Recommended)

The recommended method for getting from the Airport to the Hotel is by taking a taxi. The ride is about 10 minutes and costs around 10 €. Optionally, one can also purchase taxi vouchers (for 2 zones) at the airport with the following fixed fares:

Accessible Taxi Service

Upon a 3-day advance notice, CARRIS (public transportation company) is offering accessible taxi service for 1,20 € from the Airport to the Hotel. Please call +351213613141 to book a ride.

Public Transportation

There are two underground stations near the Hotel; "Sete Rios" and "Cidade Universitária". There is also a network of buses with several stations near the Hotel.
