Comments Batch #10

From Ian Pouncey on Wednesday 10 March 2010 17:56:11 +0000:

  1. [done] accessible home page - "news highlights images" (brains, giant hat, violin) are decorative and should not have any alt-text
Resolution: accept and fix; explain in annotation that this is an author-decision and outline that other options exist too
  2. [done] accessible news page - alt-text for "baby" image is repetitive and does not add any information
Resolution: partially accepted: removed redundant "15 months" information because it is not relevant to the image but kept "Clara F." as it is a useful label for the image
  3. [done] accessible news page - use the word "photo" rather than "foto"
Resolution: typo was only in the annotations planning page and has been removed
  4. [done] accessible news page - make sure that the annotation for the reading order highlights the correct area
Resolution: revisit after the annotations have been populated
  5. [done] accessible news page - "zoo keeper" image has more detail in the alt-attribute than the image may convey to most readers
Resolution: changed from "Zookeeper on holidays in Katoomba (Australia) posing in front of the famous 3 sisters rock outcrop" to "Zookeeper off work, posing in front of a canyon and enjoying the warm sun"
Note: the purpose is to show descriptive alt-text where appropriate
  6. [done] accessible tickets page - remove centering from "terms and conditions" heading
Resolution: removed and added to inaccessible tickets page instead
  7. [done] accessible survey page - remove "---->" from the pull-down menu
    Resolution: accept and fix
  8. [done] re-open issues #15, #16, and #17 from below
    Action: re-opened and addressed accordingly

Comments Batch #9

From Votis Konstantinos on Friday 05 March 2010 15:52:53 +0200:

  1. [done] accessible site - add label to the 'go' button
Action: reject because it is not a WCAG 2.0 requirement and infact, it would be an overkill

Comments Batch #8

  5. [done] accessible home page - while zooming (text only) the tab-navigation gets disconnected from the demo-page below. this is due to the #mnav a, #mnav .current { ... height: 20px ...}
    Resolution: accept and fix
  6. [done] accessible home page - annotations: add the word technique (at least in the title-attribute) for every technique link, as it might not be clear for everybody that H37 is not a secret accessibility code ...

  7. [done] accessible home page - annotations: the html-elements and attributes are not consistently marked up within CODE-elements
Resolution: dummy text current, will be fixed when real annotations are added
  8. [done] accessible home page - annotations: why did you decide to clone the annotations instead of just temporarily changing the style to bring them in foreground?

Comments Batch #3

From Andrew Arch on Monday 27 July 2009 18:05:14 +0100:

  1. [done] all demo pages - "quick menu": should the menu lead to pages on the same site (News, Tickets, Survey, etc)?
Resolution: make all quick menu links lead to a dummy "catch 'em all" page that explains that this is a demo site
  2. [done] accessible site - "quick menu": links to do not go to Wikipedia but back to the same page (check for bug)
Resolution: accept and fix redirect script (now redirects to "catch 'em all" page, see issue #11 above)
  3. [done] all demo pages - does linking to external (sometimes inaccessible) resources imply endorsement from WAI?
Resolution: reject endorsment argument but implement "catch 'em all" as in resolution #11 for consistency
  4. [done] accessible survey page - optional newsletter: directions are unclear, consider saying "if you want to receive a newsletter ..." so that users don't expect yes/no input
Resolution: rename text to say "To receive ..." as per Eric's suggestion
  5. [done] accessible survey page - optional newsletter: the first set of radio buttons should be grouped as "Title"
Resolution: reject since the nesting would likely add more noise than use
  6. [done] accessible survey page - optional newsletter: label "name" should be placed adjecent to the input field
Resolution: accepted to demonstrate best practice
  7. [done] accessible survey page - optional newsletter: "eMail Address" and "Retype eMail" labels should be placed above the input fields
Resolution: accepted to demonstrate best practice
  8. [done] all demo pages - tabs: consider adding more spaces to separate the "Template" tab visually
