Revising WCAG 1.0

Several drafts have been produced.

• Draft Reformulation of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - published 15 September 2000. Does not include links to technology-specific checkpoints, however this is the most up to date language of the principles and guidelines.
• DRAFT Reformulation of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines -published 23 August 2000. Contains links to the technology-specific checkpoints.
• Technology-specific checkpoints - published 23 August 2000.
• Guide to the Guidelines- 10 September 2000.
• Proposed checkpoints for WCAG - April 2000.

Developing Techniques for WCAG 1.0

The 5 May 1999 Note was updated 20 September 2000 with the following documents:

• Techniques for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.
• Core Techniques for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.
• HTML Techniques for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.
• CSS Techniques for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.

• Techniques document issues list.
• Non-W3C technologies (Mike, Loretta, Marti, Tim).
  Status: Being reviewed by Mike and Loretta. Last published as a working draft on 5 July 2000. Pulled until blessed by Macromedia and Adobe.
• SMIL Techniques (Wendy, Marja)
  Status: needs to be created based on the SMIL access note. Access note needs to be updated to SMIL 2.0 (in last call until 20 October 2000).
• SVG Techniques (Charles)
  Status: needs to be created based on the SVG access note.
• Server-side strategies (Wendy, Cynthia)
  Status: open action item from 24 August 2000 telecon
• XML Accessibility Guidelines written by the Protocols and Formats Working Group.

Clarifying WCAG 1.0

WCAG 1.0 became a W3C Recommendation on 5 May 1999. Since then we have tried to address the questions, requests for clarification, and errors in the following documents.

• Errata/Clarifications for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
• Guidelines document issues list. This includes links to the lists of issues resolved during last call and Proposed Recommendation. Note. The issues lists supersedes the Log of comments and actions taken and Log of changes.
• Open issues from ER WG that need clarification
• DRAFT NOTE: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Impact Matrix This document examines the impact of each checkpoint of WCAG 1.0 for its affect on each major category of disability and technology.

• User Agent Support for Accessibility. This page documents user agent support for accessibility features discussed in WCAG 1.0.
