W3C mobileOK Logo and Policy

1. Introduction (descriptive)

W3C has developed W3C mobileOK® Basic Tests 1.0 together with its Members. It defines the tests that provide the basis for making a claim of mobileOK® conformance on web resources such as web pages. The W3C mobileOK® Basic Tests 1.0 are based on W3C Mobile Web Best Practices. mobileOK® is a registered trademark of W3C. To complement, W3C has also developed a logo for mobileOK® to be shown on conformant web pages. More information can be found in the W3C mobileOK® Scheme 1.0 document.

mobileOK Logo

This policy sets forth the rules and conditions for the use of the trademarked string mobileOK® and the Icon as shown above to express conformance and quality of documents. Claims of conformance using the mobileOK string or logo that do not fully comply with the conditions set forth in this license are considered a violation of W3C's mobileOK® trademark. Showing the mobileOK® logo on a web page without fully complying with the conditions set forth in this license are considered a violation of W3C's copyright on the mobileOK® logo.

2. Trademark

2.1 License

Provided the terms and rules of section 2.2 are followed, a world wide royalty free license on W3C®'s mobileOK® trademark is hereby granted to use the mobileOK® string and Icon to make claims of conformance to mobileOK® Scheme 1.0 document.

2.2 Claims of mobileOK® conformance

A Claim of mobileOK® conformance means that a resource can be requested so that the response conforms to the mobileOK Basic Tests 1.0 and hence will provide at least a functional user experience on mobile devices. A claim may only be made of a URI that when dereferenced in the manner described in mobileOK Basic Tests 1.0 yields a response that passes all the tests contained in mobileOK Basic Tests 1.0. Such a claim says nothing about other experiences that may be provided at the same URI, when dereferenced in a different way (e.g. with different User-Agent and Accept HTTP headers).

3. Copyright License

3.1 mobileOK® Icon

A world wide royalty free license on W3C copyright on the mobileOK® Icon is hereby granted by W3C® to copy and represent the mobileOK® Icon as linked, to express conformance to mobileOK® Basic Tests 1.0 provided the licensees agree to the terms and conditions set forth in section 2. of this document.
