Excluding #bidi and #direction on image profile is inconsistent

State:
CLOSED
Product:
TTML IMSC 1.0
Raised by:
Glenn Adams
Opened on:
2015-09-03
Description:
excluding #bidi and #direction on image profile is inconsistent, since #bidi includes #direction, #unicodeBidi and #writingMode-horizontal; better to exclude #direction and #unicodeBidi, but retain #writingMode-horizontal with lrtb or lr values;

Related notes:

TTML1 states:

"""
A TTML processor supports the #bidi feature if it supports the following features:

#direction
#unicodeBidi
#writingMode-horizontal
"""

So #bidi cannot be used as soon as one of its dependent features, e.g. #direction, is not supported, right?

#bidi is now described as "Not applicable since some, but not all, implied features are permitted" in the image profile and as "May be used" in the text profile.

#unicodeBidi is described as "Shall not be used" in the image profile.
