RE: Focus-appearance flipped version

Just to update everyone, I’ve pulled a couple of the key concepts Wilco has suggested into addition questions of the survey:
https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35422/wcag22-focus-appearance-updates/ (questions 3 & 4).

Obviously this is just before the meeting so I’m not expecting people to have read it by then, but if people can, it would be worth a discussion after the items that were in the agenda.

Wilco – There are a few items from your alternative version<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KAo-6ID3NlVwdGl7uyjnlM_c28kBoizkjIdC8GXLwn4/edit#heading=h.ths3trovum7m> that I didn’t try to make into questions as I think you missed when & why they were added originally. I.e. they would trigger objections. Just to outline the reasons:

  * Dropping the 1px perimeter bullet reduces the requirement quite a lot (in combination with dropped the 4px to 3px).
  * Dropping the 1px perimeter bullet makes it harder to align with the desirable case, i.e. an outline.
  * Dropping the ‘unobscured’ bullet ignores the multi-week discussion and compromise we came to.
  * Swapping the 2px thickness in “Adjacent Contrast” around assumes it has a consistent thickness, which does not need to be the case.

Kind regards,

-Alastair
