RE: ATAG2 action item from f2f re: A.2.2.2 Access to Text Presentation (Minimum):

HI Tim,

Thanks for the clarification...highlighting might be considered the "top" background color. E.g. the yellow text in this example:
<p style="background-color:white">This is <span style="background-color:yellow">highlighted</span>.</p>

But thinking about this, we already have another SC re: highlighting placed by the authoring tool, so I think it is ok to remove it from this SC.

Cheers,
Jan

CSS1 also has a 'color' property:
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS1/#color

and 'background-color' property:
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS1/#background-color

but no 'highlighting-color' property - what is a definition of 'highlighting-color' for our purposes? Do we need a separate 'highlighting-color' property if we have both 'color' and 'background-color''?

Thanks and best wishes

The proposal is to start with the CSS1 basic properties 'font-family', 'font-style', 'font-variant', 'font-weight', 'font-size'.
Leaving out 'font' (which is actually shorthand for the others).

And I would add three color values: text color, background color, highlighting color. PLUS we should hinge this on whether it is possible to make it programmatically available on the particular platform.

So perhaps the wording could be:

A.2.2.2 Access to Text Presentation (Minimum): If an editing-view renders any of the following properties the content being edited then those properties can be programmatically determined:
(a) Font; and
(b) Font Style; and
(c) Font Variant; and
(d) Front Weight;
(e) Font Size; and
(f) Font Color; and
(g) Background Color; and
(h) Highlighting Color.
Note: This only applies if the property can be communicated by the supported platform accessibility architecture.
