Cookie permissions

Dear W3C,

I wonder if there is anything in your roadmap intended to automate the user
experience related to the handling of cookie permission requests. For
example, these days it it near impossible to arrive on a website where I am
not invited to tell my preference. Given that my preferences are always the
same, I am curious why the W3C has not sought to simplify or automate the
user experience.

Not having a mechanism means that I inconsistently see these requests, plus
many make it an additional effort to revoke permission, I guess in the hope
that the user will give up and agree to their default.

If a common control is impractical, would be happy to hear why, at least
the user should by default be allowed to Opt-In rather than Opt-Out.

Thank you in advance for considering my question.

Kind regards,
John
