Janina's pull request
Above links are what to review for Janina's update to the pull request.
Review of spreadsheet proposals for content
mitch: In general, the drafted content looks good. Specifically 1.2.1 seems like beeps belongs on 1.1.1 Non-text content.
mitch: There seems that there might need to be the full list of SC and for each that apply as written, say so.
matatk: +1 to Mitch's comments. I need to find some examples of cases to find - about 14 of them and haven't had bandwidth to do that.
matatk: Hopes to make progress on examples next week.
matatk: There are 6 cells with specific questions, probably dependent on examples.
jasonjgw: There may be disagreement in the yes/no column but nothing substantive
matatk: The yes/no cells pretty much identify where the examples are neeed.
mitch: I think it makes sense to make a pull request from the proposed text so we can review easier.
jasonjgw: +1 to having a pull request that has all of the changes
matatk: Instead of wherever "no text needed" should be "this applies" or "this doesn't apply". I like that the notes are next to the proposal.
matatk: It will take a couple of weeks to go through all of the examples I've got to look into.
maryjom: If I put together a pull request today will you also be able to review by next week?
jasonjgw: If something is really rare to happen, it won't change whether or not the SC would apply.
dmontalvo: +1 to Jason - prioritize the scenarios that might change our decision.
dmontalvo: Once we see how this starts to take shape, it's just better to read it in context.
<mitch11> example of how to support what jason was saying: Content relevant to this criterion is rare for text-based applications. If such content does occur, this criterion applies as written.
mitch: Above text would be helpful to the reader.
<matatk> +1 to all of the above from jasonjgw, dmontalvo and mitch11 from me
<mitch11> I need to drop. Great progress, great work everybody, cheers
maryjom: I will make a branch off of Janina's and send it out for our review.
Janina's PR updates
janina: Trying to capture some of the nuances of the topic and how CLI and terminal emulators should be characterized today.
… Command line environments are more powerful and help is context sensitive, even with progressive reveal of more help on repeat requests.
jasonjgw: Agree with those points. With applications have multiple interfaces is typical of the Unix way of developing these tools.
… There's a book reference about the context-sensitive help.
maryjom: I will go ahead and add the content to Janina's PR and let everyone know when that's ready to review.
… we'll review it during the week and discuss at the 23 June meeting..
