New Issue Triage

spectranaut: 2 new issues for link-target etc

jnurthen: we've talked about it in the past. expose "opens in new window" etc for wcag.

jcraig: do we need to do something or is this a browser should?

jnurthen: it's not exposed, right?

jcraig: but authors shouldn't have to, right?

jnurthen: yes, that's the AAM issue.

jcraig: but technically we don't have to have it as an aria version?

aaron: but for a div with role link and parity.

jamesn: keeps things in sync. if we ask browsers to expose it, we might want somethign in aria

jcraig: case of first rule of aria though.

jnurthen: true. don't really care how they expose it.

jcraig: right. but let's not add something unnecessary.

jnurthen: interesting that we've had this forever. It's just firefox that doesn't support text alt for CSS Images since that's the usual implementation

spectranaut: perhaps we should have a dedicated discussion

pkra: scotto had more in his proposal.

aaron: let's do the HTML first and then continue.

spectranaut: sounds good; please comment.

New PR Triage

spectranaut: aria#1768. Any reviewers?

chlane: I'll review

pkra: me too

spectranaut: aria#1783
… not quite editorial due to user MUST

jcraig: will review.

spectranaut: html-aam#433.
… accessible description revision
… aaron can you review?

aaron: not sure I can fit it in

bryan: will review

jcraig: I had some comments. anyon know if they were addressed?

bryan: add melanie?

jnurthen: add me.

TPAC Agenda

spectranaut: please check wiki and add any remaining requests
… each topic should have 1 person responsible, setting goals (feedback / plans for next steps / problem resolution)

cyns: would like to add: reconsider if we need a CSS AAM

jnurthen: probably hard to find time with CSS

aaron: might go with css toggle discussion

cyns: ok

aaron: would be good to have Tab call in. I'll ping him.

jnurthen: suggest to add on our end on Thursday so we have time before we talk to CSS folks

cyns: do we know who's remote?

jnurthen: no, just registrations

tracking issue for <dialog> & role=dialog

<jamesn> https://www.w3.org/register/tpac2022/registrants

spectranaut: mostly an announcement to keep track
… mattking wrote a long piece on dialogs; it would be good for everyone to read this before TPAC.

jnurthen: this will take time to read and digest. please prepar.

aaron: would be good to have a time where James Teh could join

jcraig: I'd like to pull in other webkit people where we'll need buy in.

jnurthen: if there's anything else where we want James Teh with us, we should shift if he can make it.

spectranaut: any other topics we should move?

aaron: maybe ask James

Support aria-description

spectranaut: this was blocked but scottos changes should have unblocked it

jnurthen: reviewers are assigned. hopefully, this will unblock it.

ARIA Open PR Triage

jnurthen: aria#1745.
… 3 reviews, ready to merge.

jnurthen: aria#1738.
… comments need addressing by me.

jnurthen: aria#1705.

sarah: will take another look

jnurthen: aria#1639.
… aaron, jcraig can you review?
… aria#1588
… a test case.

spectranaut: I'll take this over.

jnurthen: aria#1494
… scotto and me want to take it over
… the rest are draft, or take over or F2F.

spectranaut: so everyone: get back to review :)

jnurthen: otherwise: if there's anything else for TPAC, speak up very soon

RRS agent: make minutes
