Meeting minutes

Agenda Review & Announcements

janina: Two announcements.

janina: We're getting ready to go to CR status with one of our normative specs. We are proposing with the help of E&O to rename Personalization TF to WAI-ADAPT. Docuemnts will be WAI-ADAPT: Something Module.

janina: Example: The first one will be WAI-ADAPT: Contents Module.

janina: There is a CFC for this on the list.

Matthew_Atkinson: There is also a CFDC for a commetn on SVG Native. Paul made excellent suggestison with parity with other image formats, therefore we were concerned that the porposals they had would make SVG Native rather inaccessible.

Matthew_Atkinson: Even though this isn't for the Web as such, we wanted them to include these concerns. We wrote a comment on this topic which is now open for a CFC.

Matthew_Atkinson: We did get some feedback that the title and description elements are the only way to provide ARIA description for an SVG.

janina: Both CFCs go through midnight next week.

(Midnight=Midnight Boston Time/EDT).

MichaelC: Assigning it to Roy.

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Secure_Payment_Confirmation

MichaelC: Secure Payment Confirmation. Last year we decided we didn't need to review this document.

<MichaelC> https://github.com/w3c/secure-payment-confirmation/issues/127

MichaelC: They flagged an issue as accessibility-related which the tracker tool didn't pick up due to a bug.

MichaelC: The question is if secure payment environemnt should provide an alt text to the card icon before the card number input fields.

janina: We're signign off on this.

<janina> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-apa/2022Apr/0027.html

janina: This comment is on the APA list.

janina: Basically, we're saying (even naming the category in the stack of WOT devices). We call it middleware. Some of them are accessible and some aren't and users should know this in advance.

janina: Please respond on list to this comment with editorial suggestions.

MichaelC: I¨'m okay iwth sending that.

janina: Barring any further complaints, I will send it on.

FAST and Maturity Model Deliverables Update

MichaelC: We're getting everyone migrated into APA for Maturity Model.

MichaelC: I have started a pull requests for FAST replacing years old stuff replacing with Functional Needs and User Needs from the subroup being moved into APA.

<MichaelC> https://github.com/w3c/fast/pull/3

MichaelC: It's just a starting point. The subgroup is stuck because they can't imagine what FAST will look like.

MichaelC: Quickly: We're working under the concept of a matrix. The FNs and UNs are separate domains we're looking at with brief definitions that need explanation.

MichaelC: You can plug these into separate places where every cell is an a11y outcome. Thsi is to determine where the gaps in our definitions lie.

MichaelC: Hopefully this will go clearer in the coming months.

janina: Will there be a publications soon?

MichaelC: I'm hopign foran updated WD in the next few months, on the sooner side of that.

janina: Are welloking at a combined APa/Sivler group?

MichaelC: We consider the group fuly migrated. People are doing tehir invited experst as needed.

MichaelC: We had been working in Google Docs thus far. Any process APa wants for that subgroups to make it comparable with Maturity Model, that was on my agenda for the planning call for yesterday.

janina: We are treating Maturity Model as a subgroup of RQTF. It's pretty much ifferent people, though.

janina: We're looking for a Github publication early June. There is cleaning up to be done before that.

janina: If you want to publish in the sumemr meke it early summer. A good chunk of Europe has a way of going way on vacation mid-July, then not being back until September. We do want comments, so...

Task Force & Deliverables Updates

RQTF

janina: We are on the verge of requesting a second wide review publication of Remote Meetings. This isbecause many edits happened since its first public working draft.

janina: We are finishing up the messaging on that.

janina: We ahve begun to talk about Collaborative Editing Environemtns. What are the a11y requirekents? Do we want to create an AUR for this? Where does that stop? Does it go all teh way into collaborative games or somethign in between?

janina: There are challenges. There has been some research, mostly on screen reader issues. We are thinking bigger on this.

janina: Natural Language is coming along, we expect an updated WD but not a WRWD.

Personalization

Lionel_Wolberger: We had a small group attending but an intense working session.

Lionel_Wolberger: We looked careflully at what it means to change over all the wording in our current documentation called Personalization Semantics.

Lionel_Wolberger: We broke all of that out into tasks.

Lionel_Wolberger: All the renaming is also involved in getting to CR and getting to discussions with COGA.

Pronunciation

PaulG: We had a light week last week. We were discussing our incoprporation of the A11y for Children information and we're waiting for their information.

janina: The other aspect that jumped out at me was the new possibility for a specification allowing you to put ime into the equation, both historical and developmental.

janina: We can articulate that at least verbally and we have to build the use cases and the problem statemenmt.

janina: My target goal for getting this done is early summer so that we can arrange ameeting with I18n during TPAC. We may need to reach beyond W3C and into IETF since it may ened an RFC.

PaulG: We talked about how VARIANT si insufficient to maintain author intent and the need to go beyond SSML.

PaulG: We want Fazaio to come talk about AAC and early intervention for children with Trisomy-21.

janina: I happen to know that David won't be able to make ti today or next week, and we'll try to get him scheduled when he gets back.

COGA
