ARIA 1.2 Next Release Plans

jn: next public working draft of aria 1.2. current timeline is before our face to face..
... we are planning on 12th of may to have draft ready
... which gives people enough time before face to face

mk: you may need to coordinate with editors.. may be in other meetings

jd: we all are contributing in different area .. 12 is the last day. keep in mind what you want to commit... we still give it to editors draft.. but nothing goes into the working draft.

F2F Action Items

<jamesn> https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/wiki/Meetings/F2F_Spring_2019

jn: registration is still open
... we have agenda topics on meeting page. ppl should come up with proposal about talking points. something concrete .

JN is taking over role parity work

jn: making sure we run on the same page
... will wrk with carolyn

cm: need to come up with something else which is logical.

jn: name from child node topic, James Craig was originally brought it up.
... JG, would you be able to take it?

jg: can take it over

jn: we have combo box 1.1. Brian and MK will be taking over
... brian and mk have strong opinion about combo box
... ack name simplification

jd: simplification is important
... do you see inline vs block is a worth while topic?
... will add it to wiki
... would like to see standardize approach

jn: role parity- Review and Merge the rest of the PRs for Specific Role
... they dont have assignee yet, please take em up
... if PR's are ready, it would be nice to discuss in face to face
... role parity issues are in github. asking everyone to look into it.
... Need to sanity check roles which support aria-expanded which is not a part of thorny issue.
... it is something to review before the meeting

Merge the following if no substantive comments before meeting time

jn: 946 is ready to go

<carmacleod> https://github.com/w3c/aria/pull/946

jn: https://github.com/w3c/aria/pull/946
...
... Move some properties from "required" to "supported" on slider role
... is it ready to go?

cm: it requires value-now attr
... Authors MUST set the aria-valuenow attribute.

jn: we should probably remove the aria-valuenow
... we are not merging.. require more work
... https://github.com/w3c/aria/pull/945
... think it is ready to go.

cm: will read this one
... should provide a value aria-valuemin

jn: its implicit value for role.

mk: it communicate that there is fall back value. pretty good way to do it

jn: think it is editorial, how we communicate it
... #943 Remove default value for aria-expanded from combobox role
... Elements with the role combobox have an implicit aria-expanded value of false.
... any combobox which doesnt have aria-expanded is not compliant

mc: person who developed this tool is no more working with W3C

jn: we can have this change
... not sure if sentence needs to be exist.
... might be easier if we remove the sentence. needs more work
... Remove implicit value from heading role #942
... needs rewording now that aria-level is required.
... cm suggested, Headings SHOULD be organized into a logical outline, and the aria-level attribute MUST be used to indicate the nesting level.

cm: fall back section have all the data in it

<jamesn> https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+no%3Amilestone+-label%3Aeditorial+sort%3Acreated-asc

jn: planning to look through the issues that dont have any mile stone yet
... these are non-editorial issues
... #516 Add identifies, defines, and indicates to the terms list.

Issues without milestone

mk: reference-identify, state- indicates...

jn: I propose 1.3 milestone to it and coming back to it later
... Document use cases for audio and video #518
... assigned to Janina

janina: we can do use cases.

jn: do we need milestone on this?

jd: audio and video roles is 1.2

janina: we need to deal complications in smart way. may be start working on use cases

jn: Allow aria-setsize on container elements # 524 looks like its 1.3 issues

mk: dont think it is a big issue. may be some complications on implementation

jn: eve if you do whole bunch of work, it can still happen before 1.3 but I am going to put 1.3 milestone to it
... aria-controls should only point to visible elements #531
