Agenda Review & Announcements

<JonnyJames> Janina: Agenda review

Pronunciation TF Status Update

<JonnyJames> janina: overall - proposed work statement from irfan

<JonnyJames> janina: Draft that Irfan proposed is now on List. Likely to be declared a done deal if no objections.

<JonnyJames> MC: Not had a chance to review it.

<MichaelC> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-apa/2018Sep/0012.html

<joanie> https://github.com/mhakkinen/SSMLinHTMLproposal

<devpant> What does "SSML" stand for? I understand it is a markup of some type.

<JonnyJames> Joanie: Brought to her attention by an UA vendor as being pretty straighrqtforward. Is this what we want UA vendors to implement, or is this just proposed. What is the status? modulo the "aria" prefix

<JF> @devpant Synthesized Speech Markup Language

<JonnyJames> Janina: Want to make sure that it is as widely applicable as possible. Mentioned in the TF meeting this morning.

<JonnyJames> Janina: Uncomfortable with saying that it's ready for implementation

<JonnyJames> SSML is an XML-based language.

<JonnyJames> If we're struggling with MathML support, then it will be an uphill battle

<JonnyJames> janina: Proposes "TTS Pronunciation" as the name of the TF

<devpant> @JF thanks

<JonnyJames> What we name the TF is not on the agenda with Web Platforms.

<devpant> What happens when a sentence has two languages? English + Spanish: How does SSML parse two languages in that case?

TPAC 2018 https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Meetings/TPAC_2018

<JonnyJames> JS: will move forward with Irfan, if he can join the call next week, and check the SSMLinHTML proposal (Draft) and respond on the List

<JonnyJames> JS: We're going to talk to Web Platforms about personalization

<JonnyJames> John: What features do they consider as native HTML in personalization that they're willing to take up in the future.

<JonnyJames> We want to explore if they would consider adding a hook for personalization into content

<JonnyJames> JS: Math group meeting is at 11am. Charles LaPierre can leave the APA meeting (10am - 10:30am) and prep for the Math folks when he gets out of the APA meeting at 10:30

<JonnyJames> Good item to add to TPAC is MAUR (Media Accessibility User Requirements)

CSS Update

<janina> scribe: Janina

jonny: CSS Cascade 4 seems OK; also UI spec
... OK on Display Contents too

Actions Checkin (Specs) https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/track/products/8

<JonnyJames> MC: We through a bunch of actions in the past few weeks. No new actions since our last review

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-apa/2018Jul/0020.html

<JonnyJames> JS: Page visibility, supposed to draft a response? He found their specific question. Are we sure we want to review this and say we have no concerns? concerns re: magnifiers, or screen readers

<JonnyJames> MC: we had not previously reviewed it, so we're not sure if there are issues or not

<joanie> For the record, I am pretty much out straight and cannot take on new tasks at this time. Sorry!!

<JonnyJames> John: concern is that most AT go out of their way to not "out" themselves for security/privacy reasons

<JonnyJames> Joanie: this is similar to the OAM need, where the AOM folks have, I believe, proposed a way to solve it, by popping up a notification that asks the user if they want to share that they're an AT user

<JonnyJames> John: The generic use of "accessibility tool" is troublesome.

<devpant> Something that is not visible on the page can be accessible too

<JonnyJames> JS: Giving John a until next week to structure a response regarding his concerns regarding AOM

<JF> ACTION: JF to respond review of Page Visibility Level 2 at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-apa/2018Jul/0020.html

<trackbot> Created ACTION-2180 - Respond review of page visibility level 2 at http://lists.w3.org/archives/public/public-apa/2018jul/0020.html [on John Foliot - due 2018-09-19].

<JonnyJames> JS: Giving John a until next week to structure a response regarding his concerns

<JonnyJames> Pronunciation, ETS-led task force is a special case for foreign language

<JonnyJames> JS: On the coordination call, chemistry has come up

<JonnyJames> JS: The discussion around pronunciation needs to be "generalized"

<JonnyJames> JS: Call for more items?

new on TR http://www.w3.org/TR/tr-status-drafts.html

<JonnyJames> MC: No more action items

<JonnyJames> JS: New publications

<MichaelC> JSON-LD 1.1

<JonnyJames> MC: 1st public working drafts JSON LD (Linked Data) 1.1

<MichaelC> JSON-LD 1.1 Framing

<MichaelC> JSON-LD 1.1 Processing Algorithms and API

<JonnyJames> MC: From a spec review, MC believes we don't need to review these

<JonnyJames> MC: Spec review action? personalization action?

<JonnyJames> JS: Make it a Personalization Action

Other Business

<JonnyJames> JS: Other Business

<JonnyJames> John: Joined Silver TF call. Discussion around cost of testing. Interesting conversation, David Sloan, topic was involving pwd into testing. "Test the content, not the user"

<JonnyJames> John: Is there a formal group around testing? is there any formal space that the Silver TF could use.

<JonnyJames> JS: Giving John the action to contact Dr. Jason Whit

<JonnyJames> JS: Giving John the action to contact Dr. Jason White

<JonnyJames> JS: Giving John the action to contact Dr. Jason White

<JonnyJames> John: Is there a formalized reporting matrix?
