This Meeting

nigel: For the agenda today we have the F2F meeting agenda, IMSC, TTML.
... AOB or points to prioritise today?

group: no AOB

F2F Planning

-> http://www.w3.org/wiki/TimedText/F2F-jan-2017

nigel: From my discussions with David I don't expect any WebVTT topics. Any other
... goals for the meeting, beyond what's currently on the wiki?

group: [silence]

nigel: Ok so in detail on the agenda, what will we have? TTML2 spatial and temporal
... refactoring?

glenn: Yes, I've been focusing on spatial first, then I'll move onto temporal, and that
... will be available for review before the F2F. To give a hint, there's a new annex on
... root container placement semantics.
... This will deal with various different aspect ratios, and some information being
... implied, where 0, 1, 2 or 3 things are specified, and dealing with over-specification
... in the case of 3.
... Then the tts:extent style at least on the tt element that defines the SAR, has two new
... values, contain and cover and in addition we upgraded from <length> to <measure>
... specifications that have new semantics.
... I also ended up adding a new section called style procedures in the section after
... style semantics so that I could reference those as common procedures from different
... places in the document.

nigel: Thanks, for the temporal part I'd request a separate definition for ISD interval so
... that the concepts of style resolution and temporal resolution can be separated.
... I'll file an issue.
... Editing the agenda now, is there anything for IMSC?

pal: Nothing to add to the wiki agenda page right now. The goal will be to have a
... really good plan for what should go in IMSC 1.1, and how we can meet our milestone
... timelines.

nigel: OK, any other things for the F2F agenda?

group: nothing for now!

nigel: OK I've updated the wiki page.

IMSC

action-489?

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/actions/489

nigel: Thanks for updating the Unicode ticket Pierre!

close action-489

<trackbot> Closed action-489.

nigel: There's been no response so far to that comment.

pierre: Thierry, you did great work getting a response on this ticket - while the iron is hot
... is there anything you can do to work your magic again so that we can advance that?
... Whatever you did last time worked great! I'm available to help resolve this now.

Thierry: OK I'll try to repeat the trick using the same channel!

Pierre: Thank you!

TTML

action-480?

<trackbot> action-480 -- Thierry Michel to Request schedule time for horizontal review of ttml2 -- due 2016-09-26 -- PENDINGREVIEW

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/actions/480

Pierre: Looking at the review feedback from David Baron and considering the features in
... TTML2 not supported by CSS, if they are widely needed for our applications then we
... should raise issues to get them supported.

nigel: +1
... You've reminded me I have an action to raise an issue on CSS that I asked for
... feedback on.

Pierre: We should communicate that TTML is part of the web platform and not a separate thing!

nigel: +1

Pierre: I'm glad that David was candid and provided substantial feedback.

<scribe> ACTION: nigel Post David Baron's feedback to the TTWG reflector [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2016/12/08-tt-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-490 - Post david baron's feedback to the ttwg reflector [on Nigel Megitt - due 2016-12-15].

Thierry: I think I did action-480 - I will check and let you know.

nigel: Ok I won't close it for now then.

action-481?

<trackbot> action-481 -- Glenn Adams to Provide nigel with a list of new features in ttml2 to begin reviewing -- due 2016-09-26 -- PENDINGREVIEW

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/actions/481

nigel: This is done - I posted the description to TAG at https://github.com/w3ctag/spec-reviews/issues/138#issuecomment-261735004

action-481: [Meeting 2016-12-08] Nigel notes that he did this and the description was posted at https://github.com/w3ctag/spec-reviews/issues/138#issuecomment-261735004

<trackbot> Notes added to action-481 Provide nigel with a list of new features in ttml2 to begin reviewing.

action-486?

<trackbot> action-486 -- Thierry Michel to Shortly after publishing the next ttml wd send the security questionnaire for horizontal review -- due 2016-11-10 -- PENDINGREVIEW

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/actions/486

Thierry: That I did!

close action-486

<trackbot> Closed action-486.

nigel: Reminds group that we now have an issue to add a Security and Privacy section to TTML2.

action-443?

<trackbot> action-443 -- Glenn Adams to Prepare a document showing mapping arib ruby extension features to ttml2 for use as a liaison document to arib. -- due 2016-08-26 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/actions/443

nigel: It would be good to do this prior to publishing the WD for wide review, so we can include it in the communications to ARIB.

action-462?

<trackbot> action-462 -- Glenn Adams to Create issue on ttml2 to add "mapping from other versions and profiles of ttml" -- due 2016-04-28 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/actions/462

nigel: This looks like an easy action, just to add an issue on github...

glenn: Actually it's not straightforward.
... If I recall, the ask was to indicate how IMSC1 features not in TTML1 are mapped into TTML2.
... I could see potential for mapping of ARIB features also, so it could be related to the previous action too.

nigel: On issues, https://github.com/w3c/ttml2/issues/225
... I was looking for a tidy definition of the temporal aspects only of an ISD. I found after
... I raised the issue that Appendix I has nicer text than what I referenced, so there seem
... to be two ways of saying similar things in the spec now, one better than the other.
... I will add that to the issue.
... By the way, thank you Glenn for helping resolve the question from Sylvain at Orange.
... It made me wonder if we should be rolling out a new version of TTML1 including the
... existing errata. I guess there's a process for doing that from time to time.

Pierre: There's a subtle issue: showBackground="always" being the default can lead to
... the background showing all the time.

glenn: I expect setting this to "whenActive" in an initial element will be a commonly used
... feature of TTML2.

nigel: Can we issue a new version of TTML1 including the errata?

thierry: We can create a new Proposed Edited Recommendation, and do a new review.
... We should collect as many errata for a certain time as we can and when we have a
... good number we can republish a PER.

nigel: I think we may already have a critical number of those!

thierry: If we think they are important enough then we should go for it.

nigel: We're out of time for today, and also out of agenda. Thanks everyone, see you again same time next week! [adjourns meeting]
