CMN: Did some work on the accesskey spec.
<chaals> discussion of the proposal in WICG
CMN: Pushed it to WICG.
... Immediate feedback was that I need to explain the
background better.
... It prompted some other issues that I'm starting to file on
Github.
<JF> Notes a big thanks to Leonie for posting her notes on Git / Githyb
CMN: This doesn't follow the
pattern of creating a JS API and letting developers mess around
with it.
... I've also started to write some tests. Turns out HTML5's
improvements to accesskey is almost entirely inimplemented that
I can tell.
... The exception being firefox having a fragile but minimally
useful accessKeyLabel implementation.
CMN: LĂ©onie wrote an introduction article, was supposed to be published yesterday, but hasn't been yet.
LW: When the article is published it'll be posted to WICG with links to the draft spec.
CMN: Would be helpful to know if
people have difficulty with the WICG Discourse?
... Personal preference is that we push discussions there when
possible.
... Has anyone looked at the panels/panelsets spec?
JF: Sadly no.
CMN: It's fairly short, please do.
CMN: Somewhere in WICG is a draft
that in some parts overlaps the idea of user context that came
out of IndieUI and is now in ARIA.
... A way of figuring out how people are interacting with
controls.
... Worth keeping an eye on this, people are working on it and
looking to build prollyfills etc.

<chaals> ACTION: chaals to post pointer to the input-modality proposal [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/11/05-html-a11y-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-340 - Post pointer to the input-modality proposal [on Charles McCathie Nevile - due 2015-11-12].

<trackbot> Closed action-340.
CMN: Idea is to build an API that
gives scripted access to the accessibility APIs.
... Worth looking at.
... There is a CG working on this.
CMN: Will post minutes. Everyone here was at TPAC.
<chaals> minutes from TPAC session with PF
CMN: For now we'll continue with
this TF. The Web Platform WG is looking to do accessibility
work to be done in the WG like other kinds of work.
... Recognise we need to co-ordinate with APA. Web Platform
will be proactive about doing that.
... People find different modes and tools harder or more
comfortable. We'll work to make it as easy as possible.
JS: Good summary.
CMN: We have things we wanted to
work on, some of which are in progress, some of which we
haven't taken up - sometimes because we don't have the
cycles.
... Anyone have time/inclination to take anything on?
<ShaneM> I continue to feel like footnotes are important. It isn't really an A11Y issue exclusively. But there havent been any good proposals
CMN: Agree.
JF: David MacDonald has done some
work on footnotes I believe.
... Can reach out to him to get the info.
SM: I co-ordinated with David, so I have it somewhere.
<chaals> ACTION: ShaneM to update us on the status of footnotes [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/11/05-html-a11y-minutes.html#action02]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-341 - Update us on the status of footnotes [on Shane McCarron - due 2015-11-12].
SM: It isn't a fully hashed out proposal.
