<scribe> scribenick: LJWatson
JS: Do we meet next week? I can't be here.
CMN: Anyone else who won't be available next week?
PaulC: Me.
CMN: Suggest we hold the
call.
... OK?
JF: On fence.
WFM
CMN: We'll hold the call. There
won't be a call the week of TPAC.
... Propose a call on 5th Nov.
CMN: Web Platform WG now
exists.
... People are asserting that things happening in
accessibility, specifically some bits of ARIA, are stepping on
WP work.
... Should ARIA and WP WGs resolve, or should this TF step
in?
JF: I attended the ARIA dPub call
earlier today. dPub is open to having tthe discussion.
... Suggest WP gets involved, but as a collaboration ot a turf
war.
<paulc> Would it be appropriate to think about re-drafting the TF Terms of Reference since the HTML WG is going away?
CMN: It isn't a turf war, it's just getting a sense of how/where we work on things.
JF: One thing that came out of the call was that dPub needs to document requirements better.
<paulc> Are there minutes or IRC log from the referenced call?
JS: The other input, perhaps not
as well defined, is from the COGA TF.
... The one concern is what to do with SVG. We learnt about
xlink type.
... One remaining concern is that rel would not be applicable
to a <div role="link">.
CMN: You can't do much with <div role="link"> stuff anyeay.
<paulc> http://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/html-task-force: "The HTML Accessibility TF is a joint task force of the HTML Working Group (HTML WG) and the Protocols and Formats Working Group (PFWG). It operates under both the HTML WG charter and the PFWG charter. " needs to be updated when the HTML WG goes away
CMN: Paul asked the important
question. Should we be looking at the terms of reference for
how WP works?
... Think answer is yes.
<JF> DPUB minutes from todays call: http://www.w3.org/2015/10/15-dpub-aria-minutes.html
CMN: Suggest we wait until we're close to the deadline and see what we've learned.
PC: HTML is only chartered until
31st Oct, but PLH and I think it will be extended again - not
least because DOM4 deadline is after that.
... THink your strategy is a good one.
s/Tink/Think/
scribe: Facilitators/co-chairs should put it on the agenda for the WP meeting.
CMN: Will take an action to do
that.
... Plan is to have a meeting on Friday afternoon at TPAC with
APA.
... WP would also like time to talk about HTML.
PC: Many people are exiting early
on Friday.
... Scheduling something on Friday is risky.
CMN: We know.
PC: I've informed observers and HTML members that the only item under discussion on Thu/Fri, is EME and MSE.
<paulc> See https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2015Oct/0036.html for information on the Thu-Fri TPAC agenda for the HTML WG F2F ie just the Media TF is meeting
PLH: The discussion can't happen on Mon/Tue?
CMN: We could, but we need to see what happens.
<paulc> I note there are LOTS of open slots in the Web Platform agenda for Mon-Tue https://www.w3.org/wiki/Webapps/October2015Meeting
JS: CFC expires tonight at 12am
Eastern.
... Attempts to credit people who contributed have gone awry,
but those are minor things and PF is happy with that.
<chaals> call for consensus on MAUR
JS: I still haven't asked EO and WCAG to look at this.
CMN: Liam says people have only
just begun to look at this.
... Nothing to add.
JS: We could start at 3.30pm JST on Friday instead of 4pm if helpful?
PLH: Might have a conflict
CMN: Leave it at 4pm.
JS: Nothing to report.
CMN: Firefox doesn't see a need
for it. They've written a proof of concept that makes it clear
it's possible to synchronise videos using JS.
... Chrome agree that MC isn't needed either.
... So my sense is that we don't have an issue.
... For 12 months it's only been in Safari, and no-one has
mentioned it.
JS: We have lots of use cases. If we can support them trivially, maybe we don't have an issue...
CMN: They're all about synchronizing, right?
JS: Yes, although one is for extended audio description which requires pauses.
CMN: The demo from Mozilla allows for that.
PLH: Did anyone ask Apple for their position?
CMN: Without being asked, they've
said that MC shouldn't disappear.
... Chrome has decided to unship it, so Safari is the only
browser with it left. What happens when there is only one
implementation left?
... Do we mark the feature as obsolete in the spec?
... So WP will need to work out what to do with it in the HTML
spec.
<chaals> ACTION: chaals to forward Roc's demo and explain why he thinks the accesssibility issue of dropping mediaController is moot [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/10/15-html-a11y-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-339 - Forward roc's demo and explain why he thinks the accesssibility issue of dropping mediacontroller is moot [on Charles McCathie Nevile - due 2015-10-22].
CMN: Haven't completed my action
on this.
... Will do after this call.
... Situation has become more complicated. The editing group is
having issues with what to do with it.
... People want to talk with us about IMEs at TPAC.
JS: We hoped that would be the case.
CMN: Propose we drop this,
assuming I complete my action.
... See what happens at TPAC.
LW: Steve's action is obosolete now, so can be closed.
CMN: Will do that.
