<Marc_Twagirumukiza> Agenda:

<Marc_Twagirumukiza> https://www.w3.org/community/schemed/wiki/September_25th,_2015_Conference_agenda

let's introduce ourselves in IRC

danbri1 = Dan Brickley, I work for Google on schema.org.

<Marc_Twagirumukiza> Marc, SchemED cg

<Kerstin> Kerstin Forsberg working for AstraZenenca R%D Sweden and engaged in PhUSE and CDISC

<Kerstin> sorry AstraZeneca

<rjw> I am also [currently] working with Google on Schema.org

marc: 1st agenda item - approve minutes from last time

<markharrison> markharrison = Mark Harrison - I do some work for the GS1 standards body, particularly on their GS1 Web Vocabulary, a planned extension to schema.org for detailed product info, especially for foods and clothing - with some relevant properties for nutritional info, ingredients, diet, allergens, additives and product certification

- they look fine to me

marc: any objections?

[none received]

resolved - http://www.w3.org/2015/08/28-schemed-minutes.html are a fair record of last meeting

marc: we note that https://github.com/schemaorg/schemaorg/issues/492 will be a central entry point for this work - i.e. a single place to look for latest status (even if things are elsewhere and linked)

… since last meeting we had couple of discussions, github, mail etc. Came up with a pragmatic approach to get this extension moving fwd

… some people were not entirely happy, but taking into account what guha told us last week [re starting small] it is a nice and pragmatic start

… so first step is what we have now. Richard Wallis has been helping to get this implemented / integrated via GitHub

<rjw> http://health.sdo-schemedex.appspot.com/

[shows this frontpage via webex]

… these are the terms which were already in schema.org

… we need to look at each one, we have already a couple of issues raised by danbri, e.g. vague/ambiguous terms

… first step is to agree on this structure for today

lots of types and properties [missed the number]

one class in core is proposed for deprecation

<Kerstin> Thx danbri - helpful comments for a newcomber here

also two properties suggested for deprecation, aspect + branch

and a couple to be discussed ("T.B.D.")

[lists some OK terms w.r.t. discussion so far]

… we won't try to discuss individual terms on today's call

instead, see list at http://health.sdo-schemedex.appspot.com/ - please review terms and raise issues on Github

[danbri: I suggest the core schema.org github issues list for the issue raising, for now, not schemed's]

Richard Wallis: there are some general health-related terms like Dentist, Hospital which should probably stay in the schema.org core, and this Community Group can still improve/extend them - e.g. by adding properties

… another group of terms are enumeration values

… some are type-like eg types of examination

… skeletal exam

… [ IAF? rjw can you link ?]

danbri: two points. 1.) we don't have a formal namespace mechanism, it is essentially flat, but see .eg. Recipe for properties whose name includes 'recipe', which is a kind of soft / pseudo namespacing structure

2.) other things we can do: improve definitions, imprve examples [ write blog posts; give conference talks; … build tools … i.e. there is more to the work than adding new vocab ]

marc + mark: lists some generic terms

… I tried to make a list, around ~13 or 30 ...

if we decided to disambiguate them … we somehow deprecate the older, [ superseded in schema.org terminlogy]

… my suggestion would be to improve the definition of such terms

danbri: needs careful review not general conversion rules

e.g. see http://health.sdo-schemedex.appspot.com/Vessel also

marc: I picked some issues about terms being too vague or broad or ...

created issues, but i invite everyone to contribute

[missed detail]

shows overview doc [url??]

[I can't scribe everyone now sorry - I need to leave shortly …]

marc: … extension of definitions. Some have been updated / extended / improved

<markharrison> Q: Would it be more helpful to illustrate these subClass hierarchical relationships in a diagram?

danbri: apologies, exit stage left.

<rjw> @markharrison +1

<Marc_Twagirumukiza> Thanks Dan
