distractions

<Lisa_Seeman> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-cognitive-a11y-tf/2015Jun/att-0011/Distractions_Issue_Paper__5_.html

Tony: discussedmany different distractions, such as tapping some thing by mistake and installing an app
... the layover - when you put yourself in the position of the user you start noticing the distractions.
... there are things that wouldn't distract a user with out cognitive impairments, but really do users with one. "ad word" - when words inside the content are links, usually to adverts. beyond being a distraction, it could trick a user with CI who can't difrentiate between it and the content
... also, didn't touch helpful distractions. when they are neccesary, and guide lines such as have it easy to close
... also didn't touch sites supportes by adverts, etc.
... would like to open the discussion to the group

LS: some have been addressed, such as with the aging
... are perfectly positioned to have different players work together to make solutions.
... such as enable a browser setting that sais how to handle overlay

Tony: likes that approach

LS: if we could define different types of overlays, we could enable settings addressing the different types

<Lisa_Seeman> https://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/cognitive-a11y-tf/wiki/Easy_Personalization

<Lisa_Seeman> https://github.com/w3c/coga/blob/943ee0510a5ed91eb012492e45412b9d4f860e6b/issue-papers/links-buttons.html

Tony: thinks that has a high chance of being adopted

LS: different types of overlays could be added to it

<Lisa_Seeman> https://rawgit.com/w3c/coga/master/techniques/index.html

<Lisa_Seeman> https://rawgit.com/w3c/coga/master/issue-papers/links-buttons.html

LS: it's a good draft, and taking us in the right direction.
... would you like to take another stab at it?

<Lisa_Seeman> additional techneques ( https://rawgit.com/w3c/coga/master/techniques/index.html) and issue paper at https://rawgit.com/w3c/coga/master/issue-papers/links-buttons.html
