Joerg explaining the agenda

nobody asking for any additions to the agenda.

Joerg explaining work on the use case document

dsr giving a short intro of the taxonomy

taxonomy is based on initial brainstroming, please everybody look at it and make suggestions for additions/improvements

starting from the application domains, start collecting use cases across all of them

starting with a short story, followed by a more technical description, which can be based on more than one application domain

<dsr> taxonomy and links to use cases in wiki https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Use_cases_across_application_domains

joerg explains that we want to see use cases than span across application domains

collecting use cases is important so that we have good coverage of the application areas

is that you, johannes?

you were muted.

jhund asks if anybody has a domain that is not covered in the taxonomy: do we have white spots?

tuslaender points out that the health domain is missing

jhund points to subtopics, but tuslaender things that more coverage would be better

<DanhLePhuoc> +q

dsr asks tuslaender about submitting a use case, and he agrees to do that.

<DanhLePhuoc> +q

<dsr> Suggestion for use case on early detection of epidemics, e.g. cholera

sorry, i dropped...

cannot quite understand DanhLePhuoc's comment...

"search" as a domain is mentioned by joerg.

<dsr> He suggests that search engines and discovery is important for web of things

thanks, dsr!

agriculture is identified as missing by jhund(?) do we have experts on the call or in the group?

any suggestions for outreach how to find experts in areas that we have no coverage for?

dsr says that we should probably assign actions for identifying and involving experts from new areas.

we should have a wiki page for identifying these areas. jhund, is that part of your action as well?

<DanhLePhuoc> +1 for assigning a moderator for each UC domain

<jhund> yes, dret.

jhund agrees to create the wiki page and look for agriculture experts.

<dsr> ACTION: thomas to look for agriculture experts to advise of taxonomy and use cases [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/03/10-wot-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-2 - Look for agriculture experts to advise of taxonomy and use cases [on Thomas Usländer - due 2015-03-17].

<kaz> agriculture cg

maybe ACTION-2 should be moved from thomas to jhund?

<jhund> sorry dsr, that action was on me (or so i fear)

joerg points out that we have only 2 months to create a good foundation for our use case collection

<jhund> ACTION: me to set up expert outreach section and seek expert for agriculture domain [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/03/10-wot-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Error finding 'me'. You can review and register nicknames at <http://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/track/users>.

<jhund> ACTION: jhund to set up expert outreach section and seek expert for agriculture domain [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/03/10-wot-minutes.html#action03]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-3 - Set up expert outreach section and seek expert for agriculture domain [on Johannes Hund - due 2015-03-17].

ask yourself: what is user motivation? how does it translate to a technical description? how does it relate to other domains? what interaction patterns with or between things can we observe? what is *not* part of the use case?

work item for all IG members: please focus on these questions and look at the things we have already collected.

<dsr> trackbot, close action-2

<trackbot> Closed action-2.

tuslaender says the technical requirements should be looked at, and should encompass a list of services for the use case, to classify the services required in the IoT, how to map them to existing services in the internet and applciation domains

<dret> tuslaender suggests that we should look at the template that was provided

<dret> it has one important element in there which is... (call dropped again... sorry, could somebody else scribe from here on? thanks!)

johannes asks what "requirements" are in that context. interaction opatterns, atomic or elementary use cases, have been mentioned. need to define the most basic thing to happen

the nature of "requirements" should be further defined

tuslaender gives an example of searching for information, where the metadata has to be standardized

if you request a sensor to pick up data/images/video, you need a "sensor actuation service" or similar

in search engines you could have types to choose from, metadata categories, catalogue services

this would require a more rigid structure of metadata

<dret> thanks, flosal++, for taking over.

go for universal search engines? or applciation domain specirfic search?

<DanhLePhuoc> +q

different solutions for how to achieve what is needed for application

dret: nP, just don't know if Im picked up as scribe or w/e

<dsr> scribenick: flosal

out of domain specific use cases, generic issues /UC have to be defined, which can be mapped to technical requirements of the infrastructure. this could be something that doesn't need the application domain experts

interaction between domain experts and architects is needed

data provider have to find a way to provide data, and indexers/search engines extract the metadata. should agree on vocabulary taxonomy to expose sensor data

<DanhLePhuoc> schema.org

good discussion topic to have, but seems more about technology landscape discussion, which is planned to follow. whole series of issues of how to encourage people to document new vocabularies and why not using existing ones

should come up with use cases that cover different aspects of search&discovery.

<dsr> Dave: good topic but probably for the technology landscape study we want to start once the use case work picks up. Now we would benefit from use cases for metadata

DanhLePhuoc suggests hierarchy of design similar to schema.org, extend vocabulary. lot of different domains, maybe volunteer for a subtask to integrate

joerg? suggests a further exchange over email on this aspect

<DanhLePhuoc> +1

should clarify what interaction patterns between things can be observed. edit and add in the wiki.

another question is, what do the users think is important in that aspect?

user might not want to understand the detailled difference in search queries, and more a "free text" input

less technical requirement, but more usability focussed - like in home appliances where simplicity in interaction would be preferred

have this as a second question after user motivation?

johannes mentions that it is important how well the user is acquainted with the action

how transparent the whole itneraction with the web of things is to the user

dave? says that is part of the story

any more updates on the use case writing style?

<jhund> ACTION: joerg to propose a question statement for the user expectation on the use case [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/03/10-wot-minutes.html#action04]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-4 - Propose a question statement for the user expectation on the use case [on Joerg Heuer - due 2015-03-17].

enough for everyone to submit one use case in the next weeks?

some people already volunteering on use cases, continue this until next week, and compile a list of "maintainers" for the essential parts

everyone should try and compile a use case that they are comfortable with and describe it

About the F2F meeting in April: from the 20th to 22nd April, Mo - We, a site in Munich tbd

directions available, 2-3 hotels suggested to keep the group together

also need to organize the agenda, please send in suggestions, first proposal and structuring this week

early start on Mo morning, about 08:30 registration, 09:00 start - details on the wiki, start setting up a page with agenda details, also inviting people for theopen day, especially areas with no expertise ingroup

topic suggestions for F2F: look at use cases and brainstorming, technical landscape with some technical contributions and looking at the relation with other organisations, what they are working on

setting up registration, through the wiki or a regular web form

<dsr> ACTION: dsr to set up registration mechanism for the Munich f2f [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/03/10-wot-minutes.html#action05]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-5 - Set up registration mechanism for the munich f2f [on Dave Raggett - due 2015-03-17].

johannes volunteers for checking accessibility constraints if anyone needs special considerations

joerg wants to put emphasis again on domain discussions, move forward with proposals for volunteering for use cases, also indicate willingness about sharing insights into domains, previous projects

<JonathanJ1> Can we have a demo session in F2F meeting ?

maybe put up a table on the wiki with an overview who is doing what, easier to track who is contributing to whcih ara

a demo session is seen as a good idea for F2F

<JonathanJ1> if demo session is possible, I'd like to show you our wot.js project

maybe have an agenda point for talking about expertise in domain areas for further telcos

again a call on participants to contribute to the wiki page, make sure their interests are represented and contribute their experiences

end of session, thx
