<darobin> mmmmmmm

<darobin> it doesn't seem to be scheduled

<darobin> something's screwed up

<benjamp> can you call in to discuss?

<xiaoqian> darobin, sorry, the bridge is: https://www.w3.org/Guide/1998/08/teleconference-calendar#s_6597

<darobin> ah!

<darobin> benjamp: should work now!

<benjamp> great

<darobin> thanks a lot xiaoqian :)

<darobin> benjamp: sorry I wasn't faster on this, we're a bit distracted over here :-/

<benjamp> anyone else want to call in

<benjamp> ?

<benjamp> sch+ Forming the V1 Picture

<johanneswilm> i am

<johanneswilm> i am +45

Forming the V1 Picture

ben: 1st item is v1 picture

<MikeSmith> koji, I'm just eavesdropping and I'm on another call, but if you have any problems with logistics feel free to ping me for help

<benjamp> http://w3c.github.io/editing-explainer/input-events.html

<benjamp> http://w3c.github.io/editing-explainer/contentEditable.html

ben: is these 3 specs good for v1?
... Input Events spec
... ContentEditable spec
... Selection API spec
... name of the event
... i think "device independent event" is good

<smaug> (if you agree something here about selection etc specs, please send email to webapps mailing list. I and others may comment there. )

<johanneswilm> not realy, name is fine

<MikeSmith> meeting: Editing Task Force

all: agree

ben: next major point is

text replacement

<MikeSmith> Meeting: Editing Task Force

<johanneswilm> spelling and grammar check should be quite adjustable by editor developers

ben: 3 types are on the table
... IME, overtype, and spelling/autocorrect

johanneswilm: prefer to defer spelling and autocorrect

<johanneswilm> ok, got it. what about decoupling the two from oneanother?

<johanneswilm> make the spell/grammar checking available to javascript on a more general level

ben: IME inline requires text replacement
... so replacement for this purpose cannot be deferred

<johanneswilm> right now the spell checking requires that one doesn't modify the right click menu

ben: ime is going to affect this text range
... IME wants to modify this text range
... we need special casing for IME
... I'll investigate two levels of IME; investigate lower level (non-inline)
... but I think we can solve inline issue, go assuming we can do this

<johanneswilm2> I have been thrown out a number of times and the phone conenction is quite bad

<benjamp> sorry

<johanneswilm2> next time I will need to investigate how to do the sip connection

<johanneswilm2> I will follow here now

<johanneswilm2> mymost important part today was about the spellching and the V1

<benjamp> inline composition may need to be V2

<benjamp> users expect inline however

<benjamp> maybe we can treat inline composition like an image and make it non-editable?

<benjamp> koji: we should concentrate on stability

ben: ben: mapping between device events and device independent events

<johanneswilm2> Maybe we shouldn't expect V1 to be a full replacement for any possible situation? the old contenteditable will alongside of it for a while, correct?

ben: ctrl+B will be translated to "bold" event
... apps wants to handle "bold" event if ctrl+B is going to be translated
... but want to handle ctrl+B if not

<johanneswilm2> the problem with shortcuts is that they are differnet in different languages

<johanneswilm2> so if the app needs more short cuts, it's difficult to know which ones aren't used for a particular user

<benjamp> we should have information in device-specific events about what device-independent event will be caused

ben: wants events to indicate what the source is
... e.g., apps may want to behave differently if the "enter" key is from keyboard, voice, or something else

<benjamp> zakiim, make minutes

<benjamp> rrrsagent, make minutes
