When you want to do cardinality constraints *modulo owl:sameAs inference*, doing that with SPARQL alone becomes ugly. Still, you actually *want* to keep the different identifiers separate in the data in some use cases (instead of e.g. resolving with a pivot-identifier as pre-processing). An example for this can be found in [1]: It can be done, but it needs ugly path expressions. A macro- or rule mechanism for certain paths or parts reusable in constraints might alleviate that burden.
