<scribe> scribe: MarkS
JS: no additional information
since our discussion a couple weeks ago.
... Paul, anything of interest to us appear on the wiki
lately?
PC: i need to get the wiki in shape. I will transcribe the issues from a couple weeks ago into that wiki.
JS: PF will be scheduling all meetings, otherwise we won't get to meet with everyone we want to.
JS: schedule your hotel
soon
... waiting for director's decision. on hold until we hear
more.
JB: nothing to add at this time
Liam: changed it to be a note (from ED). still needs a bit more work in the status section. there will be other pubrules type changes that will need to be done.
JS: Want to get started on this. It's easy to miss small details that require re-publication. Would like to get a lot of people to review it, me, judy, paul, etc.
JB: will need announcements prepared as well. Liam, we should meet on that.
JS: can we get this published next week? reasonable?
JB: sounds probable
Liam: publishing as a note doesn't mean it cannot be updatedin the future. will need to add longdesc guidance at the least.
JS: there is work going on in ARIA which may also result in some changes to that document.
<SteveF> hi whats the passcode?
JS: discussion on list about
tweaks to the process for HTML5.1
... also some external discussions, like on robin's blog.
... discussions are picking up now that we are at a milestone
stage. perhaps there are some thoughts from this group that
need to be communicated.
PC: robin blogged about this
awhile ago and asked us to hold off until he did his lightning
talk at the extensible web conf. He also started a thread on
public open web list
... just starting. chairs would like to see what emerges.
... haven't had such a vibrant thread on public-html in quite
some time, its good to see.
JS: so it sounds like we should
be reading public-html and participating in the discussion if
we have input.
... glad I brought it up.
CS: (early) congrats
PC: too early ;)
JF: Paul mentioned the thread on
public-html. Seems like I'm only getting some of them... My
concern is that there is confusion between a spec and a
standard. that distinction is important to me
... standards don't change.
... a moving target is more of a specification.
... should not abandon one in favor of other.
SF: From my understanding, the
work mode...
... robin is promoting is getting more people involved in the
early stages of discussions. ideas that emerge will still go
through the process.
... its about opening up the development to more people
JF: sounds to me like its a topic
worthy of discussion. I think the W3C has done a lot to open up
the process and add their voice. lots of complaints that its
not open, but those people don't try to participate.
... moving to git, promoting CGs is all very open IMO
... the discussion feels a little naive to me at times
<Zakim> ShaneM, you wanted to point out that the w3c is also a business
SM: I've worked for 3-4 industry
consortia over the years. we have to remember that its a
business too. there are bills to pay.
... its not unreasonable to push back and make that point.
JS: this group has good discussions on call, will continue to add this to the agenda.
RS: Mark, how are we on Canvas testing?
MS: will add tests over the next 5 days. next meeting is on 9/26
RS: in the test files we should describe clearly what success will be
JS: canvas has now become a TF under HTML. Mark and Rich are still active in that group and will represent a11y there.
<paulc> TPAC agenda updated at https://www.w3.org/wiki/HTML/wg/2014-10-Agenda#F2F_Topics
JS: unless there is specific
issues for this group, I intend to keep reports on this work in
Other business moving forward
... no news on Media
PC: I have just finished cleaning
up the agenda for TPAC. I added accessibility topics to the
link above.
... please review and let me know if any adjustments are
needed.
JS: adjourned
