Monday Night

A few people are around, see Lisbon/Arrivals_Departures

Tuesday night

We can decide during the project meeting. We'll also find out where people are staying. How many are staying at the hotels suggested by André?

Werewolves will be roaming (take care villagers...)

Wednesday AMA Dinner

Dinner will be held at the Chapitô à Mesa restaurant, at 8pm, which is part of Chapitô (a sort of performative arts project / collective), located in the S. Jorge Castle area.

Chapitô's address is Costa do Castelo 1, 1149-079 - google maps.

Nearest metro stations: Rossio or Baixa/Chiado, after a nice 15 minute walk through Lisbon's downtown and historical center.

Thursday

Nothing planned as yet - we're going to be tired. But again, Werewolves may be roaming...

About the area

As you've probably noticed, LNEC's not located on a central part of Lisbon (even if the city is not that big), but you can get from that area to other more central locations very easily.

Nevertheless, if you'd like to explore the surroundings:

Around LNEC and Avenida de Roma (where we reccomended hotels):

  • Alvalade Shopping Center (10 minute walk from LNEC): there's a modest shopping center located at Praça Alvalade where you can find some shops, including a supermarket and several cafés and restaurants (there's also a McDonald's on the other side of the square). Note that the center closes at 9 p.m.
  • Av. Igreja (5 minute walk from LNEC): Avenida da Igreja is a busy commerce street located nearby, it has a lot of restaurantes, ranging from simples cafés, barbecue joints or seafood places. Some of them close late, so you can always find something around here.
  • Alvalade Market (5 minutes from LNEC): a sort of traditional market with produce, fish, etc, but where you also find cafés and sandwich places, there's also a Lidl Supermarket right next to it.

Going to the City Center

Lisbon's social city center is located around Baixa / Chiado (subway station). Baixa is the proper 'downtown', mainly shops and restaurants, pratically closes down after 8 o'clock. Chiado is more of a posh area, lot's of shops and movement, borders Bairro Alto where part of Lisbon's nightlife is located. There are more bars if you go down to the Cais do Sodré zone. Lot's of nice sightseeing around these areas, of course. On the other side of "Baixa" there is also the "Castelo" area, which is the historical geographical center of the city.

If you take the green line from Alvalade or Campo Grande (if you are departing from the Radisson), just hop off at Rossio or Baixa-Chiado. Blue line will also take you there. Subway map

Taxis are cheap (for northen european standards), and there's also Uber (around 2-4 Eur more expensive).
