<janina> Meeting: IndieUI Task Force Teleconference

preview agenda with items from two minutes

<janina> scribe: andy

can you hear this keybparrd

<jasonjgw> Andy: Liaison between various ISO groups and it is hoped that need/preference ideas will be integrated into the Internet of things work. This may raise questions for consideration by the group regarding applicability of the User contexts technology to some of their work.

<jasonjgw> Andy acknowledges the challenge of harmonization, given the number of groups coming together around the need/preference profile idea.

Michael: does an Accessiweb conference annually

s/^/Braillenet

<MichaelC> http://inova.snv.jussieu.fr/evenements/colloques/colloques/82_index_en.html#contenu

Michael: conference date is 2013-03-31

Andy might be the cheapest to go

Andy is interested to go but would need to find funding

TPAC2013 http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/wiki/Meetings/TPAC2013

Janina: chinese visas can be hard to get - there have been sme changes - recommend call the consulate before going to get a visa

Janina - follow the TPAC URL for more info

Events Testing Update

Michael: need to create some way of keeping ourselves movng

This is a good TPAC activity

James: suggest basing on testing in Webkit

that is ongoing

The automated tests for IndieUI in WebKit are mostly js that should be translatable to other agents

<jcraig> http://trac.webkit.org/browser/trunk/LayoutTests/indieui

tdo this at TPAC

<MichaelC__> lost connection, missed most of last few minutes

<jcraig> Example: 14 debug(event);

<jcraig> 15 shouldBeTrue("typeof event == 'object'");

<jcraig> 16

<jcraig> 17 shouldBeTrue("'type' in event");

<jcraig> 18 shouldBeTrue("'bubbles' in event");

<jcraig> 19 shouldBeTrue("'cancelable' in event");

<jcraig> 20 shouldBeTrue("'receiver' in event");

<jcraig> 21

<jcraig> 22 shouldBe("typeof event.type", "'string'");

<jcraig> 23 shouldBe("typeof event.bubbles", "'boolean'");

<jcraig> 24 shouldBe("typeof event.cancelable", "'boolean'");

<jcraig> 25 shouldBe("typeof event.receiver", "'object'");

User Context Update

Scheduled to work on this in the next week - for 2nd Oct

Jason will make another trawl of 24751

then criteria for including items in PNP profile

then criteria for which in first version of spec

i.e. two filters in series

with some sort of wiki or other document specifying what isn't in 1.0 but might be done later

and that's an issue for then

James: might make sense to address only non-assistive technology preferences in 1.0

discussion around exactly what kinds of stuff should be in 1.0

james: good chance to get the general model out there before getting tangled in accessibility agendas

desirable to not get bogged down in privacy and security issues

multi modality of todays interfaces

There is a framework for multidimensional gestures being developed in SC35

when that is drafted we might look and see if there is any common ground in apporaches

S/apporaches/approaches/

maybe a month from now

Jason: agrees with Janina and James

would be useful to have some clearly expressed notion of what will be in 1.0

for discussions/questions

including how preferences are gathered

what role should that play

jason: I am suggesting looking at whether this affects which items are included in 1.0

james: [paraphrasing] do any of the non 1.0 features impact on the interface design

jason: we keep on running into discussions about what current user agents can collect
... and discussions about whether that should affect what can be included in the spec

jason is ro summarise this issue in an email

<jcraig> https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/IndieUI/raw-file/tip/src/indie-ui-context.html

with examples

jason: we need to work out how these meta-issues should be decided in the context of our work
