New bugs review

HH: There's a few new bugs, most of them were longdesc related or editing related

<MarkS> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=21722

HH: One bug I think should be discussed here: https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=21722
... It's a bug about placeholder text
... I think we need to talk about the risk of using placeholder text as only means of labeling a field
... Visually it's not clear what a field's label/placeholder text is the moment that text is dded to the field
... User agents should provide a way for the placeholder text to still be visible when text is entered to the field (e.g. through a tooltip that appears on focus). Alternatively developers could do this. I think this is a TF issue

MC: Marked it as a11ytf

Resolved needsInfo/wontFix bugs review

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/buglist.cgi?keywords=a11ytf&keywords_type=allwords&product=HTML%20WG&bug_status=RESOLVED&resolution=INVALID&resolution=WONTFIX&resolution=NEEDSINFO&list_id=3187

MS: First one we could look at is: https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=9098
... This one seems to be directly related to issue 31, and I thought it could be assigned to STeve

LW: That makes sense, if Steve's happy with that

MC: I have two more that are similar: 10708

<MarkS> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=10708

s/10708/https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=10708//

MS: The other one is https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13451
... Our proposal is to remove the note altogether. Ian mentioned that this wouldn't resolve anything and I agree with that.

<MarkS> http://www.w3.org/TR/2011/WD-html5-20110525/the-iframe-element.html#the-object-element

MS: Scroll down to the very end of number 4 (processing rules), there's an "otherwise" line that should stand out.
... If the author doesn't recreate the links that were contained in the image maps then they wouldn't be accessible

LW: I think we need to push this back to the TF, there's definitely stuff that needs looking at here.

MS: I can bring that up at the meeting tomorrow
... That's as far as I got

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13436

LW: still assigned to contributor

MC: We should assign it to one of the media people

LW: Assign it to John

MC: I will do that

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13461

MS: Judy felt we shouldn't update this one at the moment

LW: So we should keep the TF keyword in place?

MS: Yes

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13651

MS: I'm going to be provided with some research for this one

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13727

MS: This one seems related to @longdesc but I haven't looked closely at it yet

LW: Charles takes care of this part of the spec, so we should assign it to him

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=14870

LW: I'm not sure if this one is a11y related
... Should we close this one?

MC: Yeah, I think the requested feature is a bad idea

HH: me too

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=9485

MC: I think there are two ones related to conformance checkers: 9485 and 13728

<LJWatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13728

LW: 9485 doesn't seem like a spec bug but a suggestion for the validator

MC: 13728 was split off from a larger bug filed by the VA
... They tried to file 3 bugs into one and Michael split them off

LW: Regarding 9485, is there a validator products in Bugzilla?

MS: There is a validator product

LW: Should we reassign it to that?

MC: Changing products is something I would be very careful of doing

HH: Why is this bug being tracked?

LW: I think we should probably close it, it hasn't been reviewed in 3 years

MC: Regarding 14870 , I'm a little reluctant to close it because we don't know David Stone

LW: Maybe we should just remove the a11ytf keyword

MS: If this bug is followed through it WILL have an accessibility impact
... If you add me to the CC list I can keep an eye on it in case it is updated

LW: We'll take out the keyword and leave it with David

New team members

LW: At the TA call last week I mentioned HH going to NZ in a few weeks, making it more difficult to meet up for the triage call
... Charles sent out a call for more volunteers
... A few people responded:
... Adrian Roselli
... Joe o' Connor
... A lady called Jacky Ahrens
... She's a UK based web producer
... Web A11Y evangelist

LW can we recruit them as invited experts?

MC: Yes

MS: Suzanne Taylor was interested as well

LW: She's already a TF member
... I'll get the ball rolling with Joe becoming an invited expert in the HTMLWG
... I'll get in touch with the rest as well

RRSAgent: make minutes
