Glossary - Part 1 "Correct reading sequence"

<korn> Only appears in 1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence

RESOLUTION: Accept definition of correct reading sequence as described in the Glossary terms Part 1 survey.

Survey for September 4 Meeting

<Mike> https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/55145/2012SEP4/results

Interpretation of 'content'

Proposal made to rearrange the words to make the definition clearer: "information and sensory experience, including structure, presentation, and interaction, to be communicated to the user"

Another proposal to retain "by means of ICT" at the end of our definition of "electronic content".

By retaining "by means of ICT" it will harmonize with verbiage used in EU M376.

Having 'by means of ICT' mirrors the WCAG usage of 'by the user agent'.

<David> +1 on Peter

<korn> From WCAG 2.0: "information and sensory experience to be communicated to the user by means of a user agent, including code or markup that defines the content's structure, presentation, and interactions"

<korn> Proposal for WCAG2ICT: "information and sensory experience to be communicated to the user by means of ICT, including any structure, presentation, and interaction"

RESOLUTION: Accept the interpretation of 'content' as updated in this meeting by Peter Korn posted above.

Master document

https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/55145/2012SEP4/results#xq2

This is an example for SC 2.4.5.

Discussion on the how a 'master document' is used in a set of documents.

The example isn't a typical use of a master document, which makes this example not optimal.

A better example will be developed.

We want to have a real example, something this group can look at and then we can describe it in words as an example for our work.

<BBailey> https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/current

The above links are not good examples, don't meet the criteria for a set of documents.

<scribe> ACTION: greggvanderheiden Find some real-world examples of sets of documents for group to look at and revisit - due 2012-09-07 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/09/04-wcag2ict-minutes.html#action01]

Glossary - Part 3 Survey

<Mike> https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/55145/GLOSSARY3/results

visually customized

https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/55145/GLOSSARY3/results#xq17

This agenda item is to continue our discussions of the Glossary - Part 3 survey.

This term only makes sense for 1.4.5. Suggest that WCAG have a note that this term only applies to SC 1.4.5

<scribe> ACTION: Alex to Craft note for WCAG 2.0 to describe this term only applies to SC 1.4.5 - due 2012-09-07 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/09/04-wcag2ict-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-58 - Craft note for WCAG 2.0 to describe this term only applies to SC 1.4.5 [on Alex Li - due 2012-09-07].

RESOLUTION: Accept definition for visually customized as written.

Return to 'set of documents' discussion

<greggvanderheiden> here is an example http://www.dbm.maryland.gov/agencies/Pages/ManagingResultsGuidebook.aspx

For the example from the link above, it is difficult to tell if these documents are published at the same time.

Having parts declared as 'part of a set' can be done by showing a document is a part by numbering parts within the set.

The discussion will continue over email.

User agent

https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/55145/GLOSSARY3/results#xq18

Net of survey is that we need to ensure our interpretation of 'user agent' works in all places where it is used.

<scribe> ACTION: maryjo to Create web page to show where 'user agent' is used for analysis of how well it works - due 2012-09-07 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/09/04-wcag2ict-minutes.html#action03]

mechanism

https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/55145/GLOSSARY3/results#xq19

Some reviewers want to make sure 'user agent' interpretation is agreed upon to ensure it works in this definiiton.

proposal to accept this contingent on the analysis of the use of 'user agent' throughout.

RESOLUTION: Accept definition of 'mechanism' as written.

viewport

https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/55145/GLOSSARY3/results#xq16

Should ask WCAG group why this definition includes audio.

In the abstract, audio make sense but where it is used, it is only for video. This definition is only used in one Level AAA success criteria.

Agreed to table this until we address SC 3.2.5. Note was added to 3.2.5 in our wiki to revisit when we work on it.

Glossary - Part 4 Survey

This topic will be covered in our next meeting.

Action Items, beginning with ACTION-44

Not covered in this meeting.

Confirm next meeting time; action items;

Gregg will bring some examples of sets of documents for us to look at.

Go over Glossary - Part 4 survey

Discussion on the process for handling comments to our WCAG2ICT draft document.

We'll need several people to help out drafting answers to each of the technical comments.

Editorial comments will be quick and easy to handle.

Michael can help with technical instructions on how to use the tool to separate out the technical comments and log them individually.

We should go over instructions in an editor's call.
