ARIA technique: flowto

http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/wiki/Using_aria-flowto

<jamesn> https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35422/htmltechs11jun/results

LGR: Wrote up technique in ambiguous way - wasn't sure how tab order would be affected

JN: If you're not running an AT, then flowto will be ignored - tab order will be the same

LGR: Impression was that if using screenreader and you came to a flowto that could change the reading order
... Sounds like this technique won't apply to focus order, but need to add something to the Test Procedures to ensure that focus order makes sense
... Doesn't appear that there is widespread AT support for flowto

agreement by JN and JOC

JOC: Suggest adding a "non-HTML5" example

JN: Agree - these sections could easily be changed to divs or p

LGR: Quick scan showed that only support currently is in JAWS 12 - and even that is buggy. Technique will be Advisory due to limited support.

RESOLUTION: Leaving technique open for further comments and for LGR to revise and resubmit

JOC: Have updated the HTML5 techniques for nav, section, and aside - will send out new surveys for them.
... Do we want to start including deadlines on these surveys?

JN: Yes, otherwise we end up with too many open surveys -

https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/myQuestionnaires

<jamesn> www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/myQuestionnaires

JN: The myQuestionaires link gives you a view of open surveys waiting for your response. One caution is that you may run into surveys that have not been finalized yet.

JOC: Been defaulting surveys to 2 months - should we change that?

JN: Should close the day of the meeting, and if we need to extend it we can. If we schedule it to close on Monday it is midnight at the end of that day.

<jamesn> (sorry) 1-0

LGR: Considering tackling 4.1.2 next

JN: First step may be determining what techniques are needed for 4.1.2

LGR: Will be an iterative process
... Expect that 4.1.2 will have less scripting than 1.3.1 - looking for anyone that would like to contribute that is not already working on other techniques

http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/wiki/Techniques/ARIA

Detlev will take over 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions

JN: Not sure there is an ARIA technique for everything. Techniques listed with no ARIA technique referenced probably do not have an ARIA technique (but can be looked at)

LGR: Not necessary that you use every criteria to meet a Success Criteria

JN: With a couple exceptions ARIA is meant primarily for use with AT

<Loretta> JN: In ARIA developer guides like OpenAjax, note which WCAG success criteria are being addressed by an example,

<Loretta> JN: We shouldn't own those documents.

<Loretta> LGR: But we coud reference them from our documents.

MJ: Will talk to Jon G on OAA working group about mapping ARIA examples / techniques back to WCAG success criteria so that they can easily be referenced

JOC: Perhaps we should add a note / flag to techniques that we don't believe there is an ARIA technique

JN: Maybe add a bullet stating "no ARIA technique"

LGR: Adding information about what's completed (whether because techniques are written or not required) will be helpful

<jamesn> ACTION: james to take a pass through http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/wiki/Techniques/ARIA to note where no techniques are specified [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/06/11-html-techs-tf-minutes.html#action01]
