The meeting focused primarily on the outeach, led by Jennifer Sutton, around the document Contacting Organizations about Inaccessible Websites. Outreach efforts are documented on the EOWG w iki page dedicated to the promotional effort. The discussion was tactical about how best to use the wiki to coordinate efforts and what members had observed about uptake and results. All commended Jennifer for accomplishing so much in a week. Additional outreach, including translation and distribution was discussed and assigned.
The remainder of the meeting was spent reviewing the use of the tools and planning future outreach and activities. Details of how to use the wiki with the screenreader, how to most effectively use the tracker, general guidelines for posting etc. The group agreed that, in general we will not assign actions to members without their permission. There is one exception to this general rule. Members in good standing who are unable to attend a meeting will be given an action to review the minutes of the meeting that they missed. To facilitate time spent on that task, we will ensure that all minutes begin with a summary paragraph that links to new action items and other group decisions. The group briefly discussed How to Make Presentations Accessible to All and availability for 2012 face to face meetings. Only one more meeting will be held in 2011 - the one on Dec 16th.

Sharron:Wiki is easy to use, I posted just that one thing. I think it quite useful to track where outreach has gone.
Shawn:I rearranged it so that we could point people to the wiki. We may not want to do that a ot, but it is a resource.

Jennifer: Twitter changes to its own link format, everyone tries to get a piece of the traction action which makes tracking more complicated.
Shawn: What is useful to quantify or record?
Jennifer: The simplest would be to track click-through on these pages. Do people just RT or do they actually read the pages we reference?
Shawn: Yes that is a genuine concern. It would be really good to continue to reach out this month to additional disability organizations.

Sylvie: I want to have it read by colleagues. When I read the sample emails it references English language articles. That is a problem for the French audience.
Shawn: Perhaps let the readers know, for now that it is in English. Here is the documents in direct translation. At the bottom, you can add additional information, noting that it is not in the original.
... I am not sure what the policy is for that. My feeling is that as long as it is totally really really clear what part of it is the official original WAI doucment in translation. Then, clearly delineated at another part of the document for localization additional informaiton can be added and annotated.

... This is a bit of a cultural change for EO but it will be very useful. Now if you have done significant changes, you can put them directly in the wiki and alert the group through email.

Shawn: Remember that Chris Mills came to talk about the WebEd Education Group. He is quite active and has started a style guide. He included an accessiiblity section - yay! In the first draft, he had a list of tips for what to do.
... you can link to the previous draft to see that original list. The section is now completely changed. He had a kind of general check list.
... there are issues with a short list like that. While it is nice to have a quick start, it is always going to leave things out. Instead, we have changed to a link to WCAG at a Glance and links to more detailed resources.

Ian: Skimming the code samples, I am pleased to approve...link to WCAG is probablymost important thing to have. I am good with this.

Shawn: The TPAC is fairly certain, the others are tentative as F2F possibilities.
