<kliehm> agenda: this

Review of NEW and INVALID bugs (aka. previous homework)

<Joshue> BUG 8715 7.3 Scrolling elements into view

<scribe> agenda: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2010Oct/0247.html

<Joshue> http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/editing.html#scrolling-elements-into-view

<Joshue> Am unsure, on reflection if this is an issue. The notion of scrolling etc is a rendering within the visual browser, elements within the source code should still be focusable ? either way. I suggest either closing the bug, or adding a note about elements still being focusable to screen reader users and/or users of other forms of AT. If relevant.

<Joshue> Bug 8740 ? How do pseudo-class selectors interact with WAI-ARIA?

<kliehm> http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=8740

<Joshue> I contacted the PF for their advice on Bug 8740 and got replies from David Bolter who strongly advises against interaction between ARIA and pseudo-class selectors. and Gez, who states that aria attributes can be selected directly, so there would be no need for "checked" to correlate to aria-checked. Suggest closing bug as resolved. There is also a related HTML 5/ARIA Mapping thread that started on the Xtech list.

Relationship to CSS selectors

Some CSS selectors, like :checked, provide information similar to ARIA states and properties, like aria-checked. Authors are advised that the values of these selectors and ARIA properties are not synchronized by user agents. If content uses both CSS pseudoclasses and ARIA, authors must updated both when changes occur.

<Joshue> BUG 8622 Activation behaviour and pre-click activation

<kliehm> http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=8622

<Joshue> comment under "Interactive Elements" from the PF's HTML5 spec review [1]: "UAWG23: activation behaviour and pre-click activation - there are too many opportunities for some accessibility nightmare here so it maybe worth reading these points and then discussing them. MC: discuss. My biggest concern is that it's all mouse-biased. Beyond that, I can't figure out what it does." [1] http://www.w3.org/2009/08/html5-spec-review

<Joshue> No further info forthcoming.
