<scribe> DONE
india office opening next week: richard to be speaking there next week
richard: regrets next week
<fsasaki> Felix: next Monday presenting at "BIS" conference about multilingual web (mostly ITS related stuff, and a bit about the EU project) http://bis.kie.ae.poznan.pl/13th_bis/keynotes.php#sasaki
norbert: first indications of a unicode conference (call for participation)
addison: invited to be co-chair of IRI WG
<fsasaki> congrats! ;)
need to re-doodle?
richard: can update if you put the link in
<Norbert> http://doodle.com/vinifwmdfitwv66a
<scribe> ACTION: Norbert: send notice of extension to DAWG, us,mark, and the two CLDR folks on the calendaring call [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/04/28-core-minutes.html#action01]
addison: summarizes what has happened so far
norbert: would be interested, but maybe not "foolish" enough to volunteer time ;-)
david: +1
addison: think they need all the browser vendors and especially MS
richard: haven't heard back from aharon yet
david: basic issue is that
implications in date fields haven't been addressed
... "this is similar to but not same as 8601"
... dateLocal in input field has bothered me
... not comparable
... lose meaning out of context
... don't carry utc/offset info
... only deal with gregorian calendar
... no DST handling
... so even if local time (say 1:30 am) may have two of same
during dst transition
... etc.
... so that's the problem; can we address that more formally
with them?
<David> http://www.w3.org/TR/html-markup/input.datetime-local.html
andrew: explicitly ignored time zone issues
addison: what happens when you submit? you get a string?
norbert: probably... server just store and return
david: there was a suggestion of things like "time your plane lands"
andrew: what are the usage scenarios: those are probably interesting?
addison: write an email to HTML-WG asking for more info on date-local including a pointer to usage scenarios
including -> in particular
a pointer -> information about
<r12a> ACTION: Addison, write an email to HTML-WG asking for more info on date-local and in particular usage scenarios [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/04/28-core-minutes.html#action02]
<scribe> ACTION: addison: ping HTML-WG chairs about next steps on Issue-88 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/04/28-core-minutes.html#action03]
Note well: we have a standing action item to read HTML5 and comment on it as needed
richard: sent out a question
about charset attribute
... can have on <a> <link> and <script>
... removing from <a> and <link>
... only leaving on <script>
... but only leaving there since no other way to indicate
encoding of a script file
... although HTTP headers might help
norbert: but not in text itself
richard: stylesheets no longer
need it because of HTTP header
... they should also mention @charset
... and scripts could use same means (HTTP header)
... martin mentioned that <a> was supposed to be
temporary
... and would be good if they left that one off
... maybe prefer if they removed altoghether?
norbert: should keep on script
tag; may not use HTTP and then there is no other way to
identify the encoding
... really do not want <a> tag to include charset; it
doesn't make sense; you may not own the content
richard: have we asked JS guys to create encoding declaration
@charset after first line should be ignored?
<scribe> ACTION: addison: write to script coordination list and ask TC39 to consider encoding declaration [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/04/28-core-minutes.html#action04]
<scribe> ACTION: addison: write to CSS to ask about allowing @charset as (ignorable??) construct mid-file [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/04/28-core-minutes.html#action05]
"never mind"
