<LeeF> Yes, I know you don't. If you understood it, you wouldn't have done it in the first place.
<scribe> scribenick: ivan
<kidehen> brb as baby calls
<Susie> http://esw.w3.org/topic/SweoIG/TaskForces/Next_Steps
susie: benji entered some information on the
wiki for this
... we may want to start with that
... what went well, what should be done better next time
... at the top benji listed the business presentation
... which is hard to say where it goes now
... it is hard to tell because it is work in progress
... but it looks like progressing well, jeff's doc is excellent
... I view that as almost a success
... next area is collaterals
... ie, flyer
... benji claims that it was successful, but the challenge was that many
different people had different views
... that made it hard to create
... it would be easier to create multiple flyers
... but having collaterals aligned with messaging is important
... the other problem was that the comm team was not there early enough
... i think the fact that we did that was a success, we learned on the
process
... next time we would have the high level message first, with the agrrement
of the comm team
... maybe have multiple flyers
ivan: the swedish office will use this for the first time, the first feedbacks are positive
susie: under the collateral, let us include the
cool uri
... it is more technical than initially expected sweo would create
... i think that will be a valuable resource
... something that it is very much needed
... we should have put it into w3c process in an early stage
... it would have given us better reviews
... but it is something which is valuable
... community projects: the success around those are
mixed
... the LOD is huegely successful, and it has its life of its own
... the knowee may go forward, that is something else that might be
successful
... but kjetil could not put time into his community project, and the powder
one did not start at all :-(
... i do not know what we could have done differently
... the steps of selection seemed good
... faq document has definitely been succesful
... as i mentioned, Lilly uses it for its recruitement...
... the case study is also very successful
... people find it very useful
... and it is referred to frequently
... something that we should continue developing
... information gathering
... something that we could have worked on a smoother fashion
... different people had different ideas
... it would have been wonderful to gather all the info with a shiny user
interface
... but in reality we do not have the resource to develop something like
that, it was a tricky task
... i guess again it would have been to be much more concrete at the very
beginning with everybody in agreement
... and then try to move forward, we lost a bit our direction
... the preferred document collection is still ongoing, and
it is difficult to judge where it will progress
... danny sent out some info, but it still needs polishing
... it is also a tricky one to pursue
... the enterprise survey
... it was good at the beginning to get feedback to help influence the
group
... we failed in writing the survey
... the challenge there that we had a single person bottleneck:-(
... that is also a lesson learnt
... logos
... benji's view is that it is quite a success but not as much as
suspected
... benji worked a lot a tech logos
... it seems like that we worked a lot on something that did not have a
result
... but our work pushed the comm team to really take the sw logo seriously
... i think the outcome of the work is really good
... having helped create this is good
... that is what we focussed on
... i think we did good stuff
... comments, thoughts, feeling, ideas?
Kjetil: good summary, we have been thinking
about what our customer need?
... the ent. survey was very important for us
... but also for our own consulatncy company
... it is something that we would commit to do in near future
... so i think that is something that we would perhaps do another one
... the problem was to have member using time on sweo work
... it is a bit difficult to convince management to put manpower into sweo
... whatever we would want should be more convicing for people who have the
budget
susie: on the en. survey, it was a good
resource for the sweo work
... wing actually presented it on a meeting
... but i agree that the survey was done 18 months ago, that is a while ago
for tech area
<LeeF> It would be quite interesting to do a follow-up and compare, though i have no idea who has the bandwidth for it :)
susie: maybe the new sweo might want to do
it
... the challenge is to get enough people to answer
... for the current one, many responder did not answer all questions, only
the simple one
... it is also quite hard to get people to participate in sweo
... we will have to work on the charter to be more concincing
... when this group was started, we expected lots of marketing people, but
the profile of the people participating did not match that
... for the next one it is a challenge to get that...
ivan: I think that is the right time to thank Susie, who did a great job chairing!
<Kjetil> +1
<bengee> +1
<Melli> +1
<JacekK> +1
<LeeF> +1 indeed
<kidehen> +5
<FrankC> +1
<Andrea> +1
+ infinite
<LeeF> ahaha
<LeeF> don't we all, zakim, don't we all.
susie: last week we discussed the extension
... we have not a comfirmation yet
... but it is likely to be done. The topics we were asking time for are:
... these are the items we used for an extension
... if we get the extension, we will continue the calls
... we would then continue on these topics
susie: jeff is not on the call
... but it seems to progress well
... we got feedbacks from Ian Jacobs
... ivan, lee and Ian provided feedbacks
... we are finishing the document and then jeff can convert that into a set
of slides
susie: i looked at the web site, I still hit a
couple of glitches
... basically my browser had problems to go to any of the web sites
... it kind of hangs, eg, on the sparql demo page
leo: when tim and I looked at it?
kingsley: is susie supposed to interact with w3c or the openlink site?
Susie: i used the official info gathering
point
... but i just want to look at the result
leo: the think the thing is a bit buggy
kidehen: it is not necessarily bug
... you should give me a list that you and tim agreed are issues
... (to leo)
... then i can look at some very specific items
... then I can comment
Susie: Leo, you seem to have a list of things
<scribe> ACTION: Leo to send to kingsley the agreed action items [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/01/30-sweo-minutes.html#action01]
susie:if sweo will be extended, then leo, you will time to update the document
leo: i did not do anything yet, we are having
tough project work here
... I will then squeeze it in
ivan: if we get the extension, it may be two months, that might be your deadline
Susie: even if we get it, help of february would be a really good deadline
Leo: we may want to have another editor
Susie: what about asking danny?
... richard and max?
Leo: ... max I do not think so, he has his phd
to finish
... richard is now at deri, but i will try
Melli: i expect to have the update done within a week or so
<LeeF> I didn't make progress this past week because my SWEO time went to the biz prez instead, sorry! back to use case facets this week :)
ivan: the use case project _will_ continue regardless of the extension
Susie: harry halpin submitted something on GRDDL
ivan: I have not seen it yet
... we may also have an entry on the sparql followup
susie: danny is not here, no update
kidehen: i am still waiting on the final
dataset for a reload
... there will be a conference
<JacekK> ivan: W3C has a track at the WWW conference, always with a SemWeb session
<JacekK> ivan: there will be a half-hour overview of linking open data project within that track
susie: knowee?
bengee: i am about to launch!
... i hope to be able to launch it today!
:-)
susie: i would like to thank everybody for their work and input
FrankC: I saw on the wiki next step that the
use cases will be maintained
... does it mean that we can add
ivan: YES!
FrankC: what is the procedure?
<Susie> http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/sweo/public/UseCases/
Susie: we have entered information on the page
for submission
... there is an email alias
<Susie> member-sw-case-studies@w3.org
-> http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/sweo/public/UseCases/submit.html submission page
susie: we are all done...
<MartinD> +1 to susie for coordinating this... :-)
susie: thanks everybody
