<jturner> hi

<ebruchez> hi there

<nic1> I'll be there

<markbirbeck> I have an account with Yugma, too, which gives desktop sharing, freephone number, etc.

<markbirbeck> Also allows us to record the proceedings. :)

<trackbot-ng> Sorry, amibiguous username (more than one match) - John

<trackbot-ng> Try using a different identifier, such as family name or username (eg. jkugelma, jboyer)

<nic1> what do you do if the xpath results in a id that doesn't exists

Kenneth points out .[...] is illegal syntax and you have to use self::node[...]

<nic1> in XPath 2.0 you can use .[...] ;)

thanks!

John: Please correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't hear nayone say they didn't want to do this for 1.2 After discussion with Mark, it sounded like he could imagine it. It seemed like a secondary attribute on switch would be useful, to contain an XPath expression resolving to a node to have a two-way binding to switch.

i see some similarity with xxf:dialog and the proposed xf:dialog as well, in terms of expanded content models

<Roger> an xpath boolean expression to the selected attribute of the actual case instead of the new att?

<nic1> you have also a problem if the value of the switch doesn't results in an id of a case in the switch

<nic1> yes non-empty

<nic1> if we have <case value=""> then we can make in sync with select and select1

<nic1> I think it is the same as select1, it is only a display issue of select1

<nic1> that is easy but the change of focus on data becomes more dificult

<nic1> and when you change data you should add a change-value listener that switches the case

<nic1> value isn't an XPath, it is a constant

<nic1> so it can be mapped in the same way as an id

<nic1> they are both constants

<John_Boyer> value is an XPath that picks a constant

<CharlieW> but it still behaves like in select1

<John_Boyer> similar, except select1 is not a container control

<John_Boyer> it's an atomic control

<John_Boyer> switch is a container form control

<CharlieW> right

<John_Boyer> <switch ref="some/tree" case="@selected">

<John_Boyer> <case value="justLikeID"

<John_Boyer> If @selected node contains the value that equals the value attribute

<John_Boyer> then the case is selected

<ebruchez> same here

<ebruchez> using a separate instance is often done also to handle controls relevance

<nic1> bye

<ebruchez> bye

<John_Boyer> Leigh note that 1.978 is me

thanks
