Reviewing test samples for current working draft

CS: currently ~70 test samples in the repository, all contributed by BenToWeb
... going through the Review Process

http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/process

scribe: we've divided these into batches for (non-BenToWeb) participants to review

http://www.w3.org/2006/tsdtf/TestSampleStatusList

CS: some of the samples are ready for review

CS: however, some are missing the mapping to WCAG 2.0 techniques/failures

Introducing Drew LaHart

DLH: work for IBM ability center
... participating in WCAG WG but came late
... want to contribute to this task force

CS: thanks for joining us

DLH: how are the tests written? are they XML?

CS: the XML files are the metadata, they reference the actual test files
... the metadata describe several other things such as expected result etc

http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/usingTCDL

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wai-ert-tsdtf/2007Oct/0002.html

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wai-ert-tsdtf/2007Oct/att-0002/sc1.2.1_l1_001.20071015.html

http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/metadata/sc1.2.1_l1_001.xml

- <files>

<file xlink:href="../testfiles/sc1.2.1_l1_001.html" />

</files>

CS: working on an HTML view to visualize the XML data

DLH: what WCAG 2.0 version are we working from?

CS: from the last call working draft of 2006

SAZ: part of the review is to look out for that

Reviewing test samples for current working draft

CS: if not technique/failure mapping is in the XML, then its status should be marked as "deprecated"

DLH: i'd volunteer if i can help

<scribe> ACTION: SAZ set up CVS account for Drew [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/16-tsdtf-minutes.html#action01]

http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/

http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/usingTCDL

<scribe> ACTION: CS send description of action item to DLH [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/16-tsdtf-minutes.html#action02]

DLH: so my action is to go through the XML and check the reference to the techniques?

<technique id="F8" xlink:href="http://www.w3.org/TR/2007/WD-WCAG20-TECHS-20070517/#F8" />

DLH: to the 2006 or 2007 draft?

CS: the 2007 draft
... we still need reviewing of the test samples

http://www.w3.org/2006/tsdtf/TestSampleStatusList#

SAZ: there was an issue with these?

CS: some had "cannot tell" as output, other had no mapping
... should be fixed now

<scribe> ACTION: SAZ will review all test samples marked "reviewer 03" [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/16-tsdtf-minutes.html#action03]

<scribe> ACTION: TB continue working on "reviewer 01" tests [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/16-tsdtf-minutes.html#action04]

<scribe> ACTION: CV check with CI on taking a batch too [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/16-tsdtf-minutes.html#action05]

Revisit naming convention for more stable URLs?

CS: applies to the ID attribute in the metadata files, as well as the file names
... wanted to discuss with MC and SAZ, both had different opinions

SAZ: not opposed, just concerned about the amount of work vs benefit
... but better to do now than later

Test case management system

CS: right now we used the wiki to manage the tests
... working for current small amount of tests
... need to think about growth and scalability
... was looking into Testopia

SAZ: MWI folks are developing hand-grown scripts and tools
... always the question of developing or adopting quirks
... systems team could install it for us, but we will need to configure and maintain it

CS: requires perl, who knows perl?

SAZ: think we may need to stick to wiki until contribution or critical mass to work on something

User friendly metadata view

CS: send example, SAZ sent comments

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wai-ert-tsdtf/2007Oct/att-0003/temp.html

CS: will work on SAZ comments, and send updated version

<scribe> ACTION: CS send updated version of the HTML view [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/16-tsdtf-minutes.html#action06]

<scribe> ACTION: all review HTML view once CS sends it out [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/16-tsdtf-minutes.html#action07]

next call on tuesday 30 october
