Below are links to a selection of published material on or relating to the development and use of SKOS.
Note: many documents below were created before the latest SKOS recommendation was issued. There are thus some discrepancies between the model presented in these documents (especially the oldest ones) and the official version presented in the most recent technical reports.
Tutorials
- SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System) - Dublin Core 2011 tutorial, Antoine Isaac, 2011-9-21 ::
[presentation]
Slides for a two-hours tutorial at the Dublin Core 2011 conference, fully compliant with the 2009 version of SKOS. Introduces the various features of SKOS, illustrating how they can be used to represent existing KOS data. Presents how the vision of leveraging existing KOS on the web of data is being adopted in a number of projects, in the Cultural Heritage sector and beyond. Discusses available tooling and methods for creating and publishing SKOS as well as porting legacy KOS data to SKOS.
- The Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) in the Context of Semantic Web Deployment, Alistair Miles, 2008-07-21 :: [presentation]
Presentation at the ISKO UK event "Sharing vocabularies on the web via SKOS". Presents the main motivations and rationales behind the SKOS standard, with nice application examples. Featuring a "SKOS in five minutes" introduction!
- On practical aspects of enhancing semantic interoperability using SKOS and KOS alignment, Antoine Isaac, 2008-07-21 :: [presentation]
A useful complement to the slides above, presenting at the same ISKO UK workshop the SKOS model in more (practical) details, and how using SKOS enhances the interoperability of conceptual vocabularies.
