reduced images to change
the order of transmission and enable progressive display.
- pass
phrase key
-
From XML Key
Management (XKMS 2.0) Requirements (2003-05-05)
| Glossary for this
source
A key derived from a pass phrase may be
used for authentication in circumstances where public key based
authentication is not possible.
- path
-
From Hypertext Terms (1995-04-15) | Glossary for this
source
An ordered set of nodes or anchors which
represent a sequence in which a
web can be read. A path may
represent the sequence a reader actually used, or may be a sequence
recommened to the reader by the author.
- path
expression
-
From XQuery 1.0: An XML Query
Language (2007-01-23) |
Glossary for this
source
A path expression can be used to locate
nodes within trees. A path expression consists of a series of one
or more steps, separated by "/" or "//", and optionally beginning
with "/" or "//".
- path

From XML Path Language (XPath)
2.0 (2007-01-23) |
Glossary for this
source
A path expression can be used to locate
nodes within trees. A path expression consists of a series of one
or more steps, separated by "/" or "//", and optionally beginning
with "/" or "//".
- pattern
-
From XSL Transformations (XSLT)
2.0 (2007-01-23) |
Glossary for this
source
A pattern specifies a set of conditions on
a node. A node that satisfies the conditions matches the pattern; a
node that does not satisfy the conditions does not match the
pattern. The syntax for patterns is a subset of the syntax for
expressions.
- payload
security
-
From XML Key
Management (XKMS 2.0) Requirements (2003-05-05)
| Glossary for this
source
The XKMS request or response XML obtains
integrity and/or confidentiality by being signed using an XML
digital signature and/or encrypted using XML Encryption. The
signature itself may be placed in the SOAP header when using a SOAP
binding, for example. This is in contrast to transport integrity,
where a SOAP message containing the XKMS payload is secured using
TLS or other transport security mechanisms.
- perceivable
unit
-
From Glossary of Terms
for Device Independence (2005-01-18) |
Glossary for
this source
User agents may choose to render some or all of
the material they receive in a
delivery unit as a single perceivable unit or as
multiple perceivable units.
Most perceivable units
provide both presentation and the means for
interaction. However, on some types of device,
such as printers, perceivable units might contain only
presentation.
- permission

From Web Services Glossary (2004-02-11)
| Glossary for

From Glossary of "Weaving the Web"
(1999-07-23)
| Glossary for
this source
An e-mail security system that uses public
key cryptography and has the philosophy that individuals can choose
whom they trust for what purpose- the "web of trust."
- physical

- picture
string
-
From XSL Transformations (XSLT)
2.0 (2007-01-23) |
Glossary for this
source
The formatting of a number is controlled by
a picture string. The picture string is a sequence of characters,
in which the characters assigned to the variables
decimal-separator-sign, grouping-sign, zero-digit-sign, digit-sign
and pattern-separator-sign are classified as active characters, and
all other characters (including the percent-sign and
per-mille-sign) are classified as passive characters.
- pixel
-
From Portable
Network Graphics (PNG) Specification (Second Edition) (2003-11-10) |
Glossary for this
source
information stored for a single grid point

samples from all
channels . The
complete image is a rectangular array of pixels.

From Glossary of "Weaving the Web"
(1999-07-23)
| Glossary for
this source
A very neat bit of mathematics on which is
based a security system in which there is no need to exchange
secret keys; instead, people have one "private" key that only they
know and one "public" key that everyone knows.

- place
marker
-
From XSL Transformations (XSLT)

Glossary for this
source
The xsl:number instruction performs two
tasks: firstly, determining a place marker (this is a sequence of
integers, to allow for hierarchic numbering schemes such as 1.12.2
or 3(c)ii), and secondly, formatting the place marker for output as
a text node in the result sequence.
