Abstract

This presentation introduces Web accessibility issues, benefits, and solutions; provides an overview of the Web Accessibility Initiative mission, working groups, and deliverables; and explains the importance of Web accessibility standards harmonization internationally. We discuss the design and direction of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0), the role of WCAG 2.0 in providing internationally-harmonized guidelines, and opportunities to participate in the development of WCAG 2.0. By illustrating how different Web accessibility guidelines impact Web development, we demonstrate how developing and adopting a common international Web accessibility standard benefits Web developers and Web users.
