XForms is a markup language that addresses the modern needs of electronic forms. It is based on XML and can deliver the collected values as an XML document. It addresses questions of authorability, usability, accessibility, device independence, internationalization, integration into different host languages, and reducing the need for scripting.
XForms 1.1 is nearing the end of its candidate recommendation period, a test suite and a preliminary implementation report is available.
In the steps to producing a first WD of XForms 1.2, the existing XForms is being modularized.
Work is proceeding on a Streamlined Syntax that proposes easier integration of XForms features into other markup languages.
XForms 1.1 is to enter Proposed Recommendation and XForms Basic to enter Proposed Recommendation. A First Public Working Draft of XForms 1.2 will be published.
