Official Response to ISSUE-119 from RDF Web Apps WG

Hi Niklas,

Thank you for your public feedback on the RDFa 1.1 documents. This is an
official response from the RDF Web Apps WG to your Last Call issue
before we enter the Candidate Recommendation phase for the RDFa 1.1
specifications.

Your issue was tracked here:

https://www.w3.org/2010/02/rdfa/track/issues/119

Explanation of Issue
--------------------

You had been concerned that the use of @about in RDFa Lite 1.1 was
problematic as the attribute had a variety of advanced usages that may
confuse Web authors using RDFa Lite 1.1. You had requested that the
Working Group consider using the @resource attribute in place of @about
in RDFa Lite 1.1.

You went into detail about these concerns here:

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-rdfa-wg/2011Nov/0119.html

Working Group Decision
----------------------

The Working Group ultimately agreed with you and made the following
resolution:

RESOLVED: Replace @about with @resource in RDFa Lite 1.1.

http://www.w3.org/2010/02/rdfa/meetings/2012-02-23#resolution_4

We had foreseen that this change might happen during this Last Call
period and had placed an issue marker in the document noting that this
change may be made:

http://www.w3.org/TR/rdfa-lite/#about

Thus, the change is regarded as non-substantive and RDFa Lite will not
need to go through another Last Call because of this change.

Feedback
--------

Since this is an official Working Group response to your issue, we would
appreciate it if you responded to this e-mail and let us know if the
decision made by the group is acceptable to you as soon as possible.
