Re: Planning to close LDP Next Community Group due to inactivity unless we hear from you

I agree that as one core part of Solid is an extension of LDP that
could easily be clarified, it would be very helpful to get the LDP
community involved.

The main change that Solid makes is to develop what we called the
intuitive container in https://www.w3.org/2012/ldp/track/issues/50

It would help if for example Solid declared the new type of container,
so that it does not clash with the BasicContainer, of which it is a subclass.

Also LDP could do with some clean up by separating the Basic, Direct,
indirect containers and also making clearer what they are about.
In my second year report for my PhD I explained in more detail how
I think those other containers are related to speech acts

I ran out of money so I spent the past three years writing a
Solid server and libraries, with help from the EU

  https://github.com/co-operating-systems/reactive-solid/

But I should be able to get back to finishing the Phd soon.

The other changes are mainly to do with access control, which
is an additional layer that can be used with LDP but could also be
used with other Web2.0 APIS too.

Of course the main point of Solid is not just to have a server component
but also for those to work well with client hyper-apps. And the needs
of the apps are what is leading development of the protocol.

There may be other extensions to LDP that Solid adds that I have not
thought of.
