Use case

A school wishes to use text-to-speech with math for a variety of students including those who struggle with math and those with vision impairment. While some of the students with vision impairment work well with very basic text-to-speech rending of the math, the differences between the class room speech and the text-to-speech for homework, prevents the struggling students from realizing the potential benefits of text-to-speech.

Requirement(s)

• When using math with text-to-speech, it may be important to match the language used in class, in a book, course level or set of course levels.
• Additional research/input is needed. This needs to be balanced with the need for consistent rendering for excellent math students with visual impairment who might benefit from a more rudimentary representation throughout their education/career.
• Pronunciation mappings can be available from publishers, assistive technology vendors, schools/instructors, and/or other ('third') parties
