Visualization of 2D Building Geometry

From Linked Building Data Community Group
  • Title: Optimised Visualization of 2D Building Geometry
  • Description: Many existing buildings do not have full 3D models to enable 3D visualization. This use case is concerned with providing the minimal amount of visualization of a building geometry as a place holder for other visualisation, for example visualisation of zones, devices, sensors etc. for the purpose of selecting and placing, for example, in the case of visualisation of energy consumption of a zone, device or monitored data from a sensor.
  • Domain(s): Building Geometry.
  • Objectives: Present visual display of building floor plan as a place holder for visualisation of zones, devices, etc.
  • Stakeholders: Software Developers
  • Requirements: Data integration, optimized visualization techniques
  • LD Benefits:
  1. poly-lines, once converted to LD can be linked to more semantically rich descriptions;
  • Challenges
  1. conversion of existing building models (e.g. dwg) into LD and potential for loss of semantics due to conversion process (e.g. where architect has defined meaning to specific poly-lines;
