Minutes

A quick recap of last weeks meeting showed a need for a mission Statement, Carsten Kessler took the lead in creating a Mission Statement for the chairs.

BVL shared the Mission Statement Draft with the attendees and requested remarks and comments.

In general it was well received, with some additions and remarks on the following subjects

  • Relevance, is hard to meassure, preferably we would take real world examples and use cases and mingle with practitioners as much as possible.
  • Glossary, a very good point was raised to create a glossary, what is emergency information, is it about the big car crash around the corner or the flooding in India? We should make sure that this terminology is well defined in the this wiki.
  • Collecting standards, there was a strong lean towards HXL last call, lets be more objective and create a broader overview of what is available. The Disaster 2.0 project generated a paper which shows the currently available vocabularies and ontologies. BVL already discussed during SMERST that this paper would be input to this working group. BVL proposes to incorporate this in the wiki and look for gaps, this would be a ideal starting point.

The overal concensus in the meeting was that the current Mission statement draft is good as its clear and not detailed, it should be finalized and mailed out so that others can comment on it. The objective should be to create work packages on the subject in the mission statement, not the mission statement as a whole.
