  • Step 4: The help text says "A page title should describe the content or purpose of the webpage, and uniquely identify it within the website." Suggest do remove reference to "within the website" because this is covered by SC2-4-2-titles-across-pages.
  • Step 4: Add repair suggestion. Ask the user to enter a descriptive title.

  • The format of the page doesn't quite follow the template. Wilco Fiers (talk) 08:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
    • There is no status
    • Templates of the test modes are not included correctly
    • The link to 2.4.2 should reference the 2.4.2 page on the wiki, not the success criterion
    • The user question should follow the format proposed by Annika (
  • The question "Check if the title is a filename or a URL" is ambiguous. How should this be tested? Wilco Fiers (talk) 08:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
  • I think the selector should target the root element of the page, not just the head. It's purpose Wilco Fiers (talk) 08:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
  • I would also like to see if the title is non-empty text Wilco Fiers (talk) 08:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
  • We should maybe split this test up into a manual and an automated test? Wilco Fiers (talk) 08:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Step 4 "Does the title describe the content of the web page?". Suggest to change the wording to "identify the content of the web page". A few words in the title can not really describe the page. The main goal is to be able to identify the page among other pages. --Annika Nietzio (talk) 09:34, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Step 4 Template:Manual

"Look at the content of the page. Does the title describe the content of the web page? "

KHS: Suggest using more generic word 'Check' over 'Look'. Partially, in case the person using the tool cannot see, and partially because it make more sense for a test tool.

An additional manual check, of course, is to check the text in the browser tab, for that page. This information could be included in the original check......

"Check the content of the page. Does the title, displayed in the browser bar/tab, describe the content of the web page? "

It goes without saying that the text that is shown on the tab is the same text that is in the title element of the page head.

A question I have, are we including mobile tests? Because if we are then what I suggest for the tab will not work, as in a mobile environment tabs are not generally visible, but are read out by mobile screen readers. So if the answer to the mobile question is yes, then I will have to rephrase the wording to.....

"Check the content of the page. Does the title (often displayed in the browser bar/tab), describe the content of the web page?"
