Recording Policy

From Accessibility for Children Community Group

These meetings are not recorded in order to simulate in-person meetings as much as possible and to encourage active and open participation by those who are present.

Recording as a Meeting Accommodation

Participants who are present in a particular meeting are welcome to record that particular meeting as a meeting accommodation. These recordings should not be saved or shared.

Recordings that include ASL Interpreters

  • Recordings should be made to include a message that these meetings are being interpreted and recorded live, without any prep time for the interpreters. This is to set expectations should there be any errors, omissions, or otherwise normal "glitches" that one would expect in a live meeting but would not expect from a polished recording.
  • Recordings should have an expiration date, so that they are not archived and viewable indefinitely
  • Recordings should be viewable only to the original invited participants of the meetings, in keeping with the original purpose of the meetings. The interpretation being offered is tailored to the current Deaf participant(s), therefore anyone who was not included during the recording may not receive the message in a language that is most easily understood by them.
  • Recordings should be viewable on request, not openly available. This is in keeping with Interpreters' confidentiality considerations.
