Success Criteria

1.4.5 Advanced text formatting (Globally): The user can globally set all of the following characteristics of visually rendered blocks of text: (Level AAA)

  • Capitalization (overriding upper case and small caps style)
  • Word-breaking properties (e.g. auto-hyphenation)
  • Borders

Note: This success criteria does not apply to text entered as all caps. Content authors are encouraged to use styles instead of typing text as all caps.

Tests

Test Procedure 1

  1. Identify methods of customizing text formats (e.g. by exploring the UI or consulting Help documentation).
  2. Open a test document that contains examples of text content.
    Sample HTML test document: Text Customization
  3. Change the following characteristics globally:
    • Capitalization (overriding upper case and small caps style)
    • Word-breaking properties (e.g. auto-hyphenation)
    • Borders
  4. Refresh the view of the test document
  5. Check that the customizations in step #3 are rendered

Expected Results 1

  • Check #5 is true
