Goal

"Ensure we have shared understanding of key terminology and how we plan to relate our terms to industry definitions.”

  • A starter list of terms we expect to need. (Those could simply be the ones in the use cases and capabilities, possibly augmented a bit based on recent credentials/identity discussions.)
  • We also keep a running list of terms that are a source of confusion that are not on the “expected” list
  • Some discussion of binding our terms to those in other specs (cf the “experiment”).

The glossary should be as concise as possible, referencing "kernel terminology" from the Use Cases, Capabilities and Architecture documents. Links to "industry definitions" will be given, and discrepancies may be identified.

The Glossary is not intended to be a replication of data dictionaries from other standards, but rather is a "pointer" to relevant terms

In the BreakOut meeting of 17 June the following was proposed:

  • The Glossary documents will be merged in one reference document (starting as a wiki)
  • The Glossary will be kept to a minimum viable list of terminology required, as defined in Use Cases and Capabilities
  • The Glossary will be maintained through a "group CRUD process" where group members Create, Update and/or Delete terms by reacting to messages in the mailing list (labeled [Glossary].
  • (The R stands for READ, it is advised to do so before C/U/D items : )
  • Evert will initiate the mail discussion
  • As a preparation, we will attempt to squeeze in a discussion on the F2F agenda for 18 June on how the Glossary can best be formatted by discussing the term "Payment"
