registration of MIME type
[1] http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/image/cgm
registration may need minor adjustments for valid profile to NOT be ISP
need to investigate for possible corrections. was not changed for the last 12 years
Chris: Profile should not be optional
... good idea to update it
Lofton: what about version ?
<ChrisL> IANA
need to be checked at iana
<ChrisL> http://www.iana.org/
Chris: W3C has a procedure for registration
http://www.w3.org/2002/06/registering-mediatype.html
is the registration process ...
Needs to be done before charter expiration.
Dave: but WebCGM is not listed there in the W3C page ...
Chris: but we appear in the iana registration
Chris: need to register (update) through W3C
<ChrisL> Good idea to copy ISO/IEC SC24/WG6 would be good
<ChrisL> http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4288.txt
<ChrisL> look for " Registration Template"
<scribe> ACTION: dave to update MIME registration [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/11-webcgm-minutes.html#action01]
Lofton: errata fully approved by WG
Will not go for a public review ...
added the notation from Ian, saying errata are not normative
We will not publish an edited Rec

<trackbot-ng> Tracking ISSUEs and ACTIONs from http://www.w3.org/Graphics/WebCGM/WG/track/
resolution: WG approved. These 2.0 errata are correct are ready to be published (once Lofton has added a link to these minutes showing WG approval)
Lofton: in 6 weeks (end november 2007). We have accomplished what was stated in our charter. fulfill goals. On the OASIS TC side , we have listed 2.x requirements, new features. and feel that in a week or 2 this list should be firm, specifying a small fast 2.1 publication. Implementers are being asked in advance for commitment to implement, which would allow to have 2 implementation experiences passing W3C CR exit criteria
Animation features would probably need longer term for a 3.0
Lofton: Should we extent the WebCGM WG ? With same MOU for OASIS/W3C. Would need a new charter for approval by W3C ACs
The TC thinks it is the right thing to do. We will have same group of people, and all WG participants agree to participate
The issue is for Don. PTC owns ITEDO and Arbertext. Is PTC a W3C Member ? Seem to.
Lofton: can two people attend from a same company ?
Chris; the answer is yes.
Lofton: But do we have enough companies in the WG ?
Don was representing Arbertext; Don could be an invited expert. But that would mean a smaller number of companies.
Chris: Why did not Airbus joined W3C ? It would certainly help recharter the WG. They are full member
If W3C buy a 380, that might help ;-)
<ChrisL> X-Hive
<ChrisL> http://www.x-hive.com/
is a W3C member and be interested in joining the WG ?
Dave takes an Action to do recruitment ;-)
<ChrisL> XHive is owned by EMC?
<scribe> ACTION: Dave to recruit . contact people from Airbus and X-Hive... [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/11-webcgm-minutes.html#action05]
Lofton: When should the charter be done ?
Chris: When done it then gets submitted to W3M, and then it gets submitted to ACs
Lofton: the charter needs to give timelines
... might look at the milestones of 2.0 and time frame of TC
<scribe> ACTION: Lofton, Dave and Thierry to work on timeline [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/11-webcgm-minutes.html#action06]
<scribe> ACTION: Thierry to work on recharter [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/10/11-webcgm-minutes.html#action07]
Lofton: do we need a requirement document
<trackbot-ng> Tracking ISSUEs and ACTIONs from http://www.w3.org/Graphics/WebCGM/WG/track/
Chris: there is a set of question to be answered
Lofton: About requirements, do we anticipate we will get any new ones from W3C sources such as I18N?
Should re-ead the MOU carefully, but was designed to be usable for future work. No need to set another one
Lofton: implementers are currently doing animation with DOM. Would be better to have declarative animation
next telecon: in 2 weeks ?
<ChrisL> Does Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) have any use of WebCGM? Also w3c members
Two candidate meetings before Lofton leaves (10-nov for 2-1/2 weeks). By that time need to know what we will be doing
Chris: Will the charter be ready before the charter expires ?
Thierry: Should Try, but we may delay a little bit.
<davec> DISA has been involved in CGM generally in the past, but I've lost contact with them, now
Lofton: Goal is to agree on a draft charter before we expire
Next telecon: 2 weeks and 4 weeks from now
For 1.0 errata; it is not an OASIS standard. So there will not be errata published.
For 2.0 errata we will go through the OASIS errata process.
Lofton: need to edit errata with OASIS style + TC approval ... formal Vote ...
Should be done sometime in january 2008
The OASIS will publish a 2.0 errata page, not include these in the spec. until integrate into 2.1.
As these are non normative (status 2) don't affect conformance
Therefore conforming to 2.0 should be conforming to 2.1
