Location paths define some part of the XML tree in relation to the context node. This occurs on one of the major or minor axes:

• attribute
• namespace
• ancestor
  • parent
• descendant
  • child
• following
  • following-sibling
• preceding
  • preceding-sibling
• self
  • ancestor-or-self
  • descendant-or-self
